Mamoru is a good, moral driven boy, just questionable actions. He is a very stoic, tough, reserved boy. He dislikes social situations and often gets into fights. Once you get to know him, you learn that he's very caring, kind, and just extremely insecure about himself.

He is an only child and not close with his family. They never treated him badly, but he felt very distant from them--no connection. He moved out into his own apartment at the age of 18 with the money he saved from doing random jobs (delivery boy mostly). Before meeting his S/O, he was a punk kid who joined a gang of rebellious teens because that's the only people he thought liked him enough. They were terrible people, threatening others for money, harassing drunks, etc. Mamoru was the muscle of the gang, and hurt those he thought deserved it. After a while, he realized he was just being used, and didn't want to hurt others. One he told them he would quit, they beat him to near death. This is where both scars on his cheeks come from. They were so deep that they'll never fade. After that, he believed that he would never be loved and became even more distant towards others. He is ashamed of his past and always rough up others who he sees going down a bad past. After meeting his S/O, he angry and confused at his feelings, and wasn't sure what to do.
