Melpomene the bastard born of a noble Fae of Treyridian living in Thouya made her own destiny. Being the bastard of a noble and half-fae, you never got any responsibilities, you weren't supposed to even exist. She made every adventure her own and stirred up as much trouble as she could along the way. Her younger brother Rowan was a light in the dark, it was hard not love him. He defied his mothers wishes everytime they went on an adventure on their own. Melpomene would never inherit anything of her fathers and didn't have much to call her own. It was easier that way though, you didn't have to rely on anyone or anything. She to admit that she was lonely sometimes. Melpomene did get her father's fae traits and even inherited the fae swiftness. She liked the stairs that came her way from her long, pointed ears and elongated canines. Though she didn't inherit more than the ability to cover double the ground than a mortal, she practiced against her little brother in combat to learn just how to defend herself from the fae. She didn't carry weapons, but instead potions and grenades filled with those that can stun and block the abilities of the fae in battle. She wouldn't be remembered by history, but that's just how she liked it.

The fae of Treyridian are beloved by the citizens for their abilities to bring prosperity and protection. Fae are born with many different abilities from elemental manipulation, to abilities to manipulate the mind and even shape-shifting. Not many are born fae and most bloodlines have been lost to history, but occasionally some are born after generations of dormant abilities. The fae are cherished and worshiped in their country. Often the royalty and nobility will invite fae of Treyridian to live or stay for times for commission for their abilities. Some will even opt to stay and offer their services for the remainder of their lives. Fae live much longer lives than their mortal friends, but can still die from injuries and illnesses. The fae are often distinguishable by having longer legs, leaner bodies, long pointed ears and elongated teeth.

[half-brother] Rowan was born relatively young in Melpomene's long lifespan. She had no intentions of ever being close with her younger half-brother, especially since his mother hated her. However, Rowan loved his big sister and followed her anywhere that he could. She tried not to like him, but he looked up to her so dearly. When it was clear her brother inherited the abilities of the fae, Melpomene enjoyed watching and participating in his training. She wasn't jealous of his abilities or responsibilities, but felt sorrow when she saw him upset or stressed. She tried to take him on any adventures that she could and when he married the Queen of Treyridian she celebrated more than anyone. She was proud of her half-brother and loved to see everything that he accomplished.

[sister-in-law] Aelin was like family, for the short period of time that she had been married to Rowan. Melpomene had grown to see her as a sister and loved to see her brother happy. Aelin was powerful and yet in a room, Rowan was all that she cared about. Melpomene hoped one day that she might have the happiness and grow to love someone in that way. She visited Aelin and Rowan often and loved the beautiful country of Treyridian like home. Melpomene had grown close to Aelin and knew that her brother was in good care under her protection.
martie
[frenemie] Martie wasn't exactly her friend, but wasn't exactly her enemy. He tended to show up at the worst times only to annoy her. Melpomene needed him to get her supplies for the potions and herbs that she created, but Martie always liked to chat. Martie liked to take up her time when she was in a rush. For a mortal he really knew how to push the buttons of a half-fae and wasn't afraid of her when she threatened him. He didn't seem to care when she asked him to go away and only continued to sell her the newest brews and herbs. In a way, he might be the closest thing she had to a friend and she didn't know if that was a good thing or not.
