Soma's story is one every mother fears. A cub stolen from his pride in the dead of night. No amount of searching could rescue the him from whatever clutches swept him away. Some say a beast roams the lands and takes away little cubs who wander to far from their pride. Others say it only takes the naughty as a sort of punishment for their misdeeds. Whatever it truly wants is unknown and makes mothers tuck their cubs closer each night. The reality only few know and these do not fear it's hold.

The night was a silent and cold one. A breeze ruffled the fur atop a small cub head, eyes bright and wide compared to the others who slept soundly. Her paws flexed in anticipation as she waited until her mother was deep in dreamland.

Slinking across the dry grasses that made up her prides land she ventured further and further away from the safety of the group. Sure she was far enough away the slow and quite steps transformed into a playful prance. This was not her first adventure, but it was further then she had ventured before. Nothing could detour her from these adventures. During the day mother had such a sharp eye on her that the cub could barely take a step away from her side. The further she ran the more unfamiliar and strange the landscape became, until a sharp scent struck her and she realized just how far she was from safely. Ears flattened to her scalp the young cub froze in the unfamiliar land, breath held as if it could turn her invisible.

Soft steps could be heard in the underbrush around her. A heavy beast seemed all around her, preventing any sort of escape. "What's a little one like you doing so far from home?" The voice was hushed as if they too were sneaking about, "Your from the pride to the south right? You shouldn't be here, not to mention alone." Fearful eyes finally landed on the figure that had almost manifested into view. His dark pelt melted into the darkness around him, the moon giving its outline an eerie glow. "Was it unintentional, or did you seek me out?"

The pride continued sleeping as a lioness twitched in her sleep. Eyes opening an inch as she sensed movement before a small force slammed into her side. Whispering excitedly the young cub almost couldn't contain her happiness, "I'm so sorry I left, I accidentally went into another territory, but there was a nice lion that carried me back, but he was weird and kept asking me if I wanted to stay-". Cutting her off the mother began to groom her cub to keep her from waking the others, and to calm her sudden shock. Reassuring the cub that her savior wouldn't be attacked as he travelled through their pride's territory she slowly got the cub to sleep, and if the pride found no trace of the mystery lions scent in the morning she would never know.
