originates from Fgvhalvj, a planet of immense cthulhulike abominations that communciate by projecting words and images directly into the mind and gleaning information straight from the consciousness; due to privacy concerns raised by the interplanetary council, they have recently taken to breaking off pieces of themselves to act as "avatars" that are subsumed back into the deeper consciousness once their duties are complete. on a prolonged mission, one of these splinters developed its own agency, and liased with another crewman on board, resulting in a child.

the carrier returned to the dainty homeworld to raise him, but quickly found herself unequipped to raise a baby with a ever-growing host of mutations, the most prominent being the power to absorb the mass of nearby objects and living beings into his body and redistribute it at will. she surrendered custody of the child up to the Fgvhalvj authorities, who upon claiming him as theirs immediately lost interest in him, having only involved themselves out of concern for their interdiplomatic relations. the concept of a child was utterly foreign to them (the only equivalent being hatchlings that immediately devour each other until they become large enough to communicate with others of their kind) and left him to fend for himself as they would any adult rather than helping him control his powers as his mother had no doubt hoped.

unsurprisingly, he started causing havoc almost immediately, to which he was punished by being exiled to a backwater planet so remote that it was not even capable of interstellar travel. unable to grasp what had happened to him, he wandered the lightless depths of Earth's oceans for decades, sustained by the carcasses of whales and krakens that drifted down to the abyssal zone, mindless in the absence of any sentient creature to commune with for miles and miles, when someone popped into his radar, and he had a voice again, just like that.
