About

Kochiyo and their family reside within the snowy mountains of Northern Japan. They lived on their own as a clan and were even almost completely self-sustaining. Coming from a family of demon slayers and breath users, Kochiyo and their siblings were trained at an early age to one day be slayers themselves. Kochiyo didn't suffer much pressure, being the middle child among 14 siblings, but among all of them, he was a cut above the rest, most especially with his incredibly keen sense of sight. Come the final selection, this especially rang true as among their other siblings who fought alongside them during the final selection, only Kochiyo lived. They're sent in batches to the final selection and now only Kochiyo and his six younger siblings remain. His younger siblings have yet to be sent there but they still have to train.

His siblings being destined to die right from the get go soured his view on the Demon Slayer Corps, but there is not much he can do about it. The most he can do right now is remain a cut above the rest. They keep their unpopular opinions to themselves. They do hope that the system that the organization operates on will change for the better soon for it is a very flawed system.

Personality

They come off as a cold person and a clean freak. They don't go out of their way to get to know anyone at all and tend to keep to themselves. Though, that's not the Kochiyo that the folks within Gekko's temple know.

If anyone really got to know Kochiyo, they may be quiet but you could tell what they're thinking because they're quite subtely expressive. Through their faces they make and their mannerisims, you'd get the impression that they're pretty childish in the sense that they act innocent and child-like. It's very easy to amuse them. Even something as simple as being given candy will make their eyes sparkle. They're a very obedient child to any authority figure (even if they don't like said person). They're very respectful and polite to their elders and seniors.

Them being a clean freak comes from noticing very tiny things from their keen sense of sight and being trained to be precise. They hang around the temple the most because disorder ticks them off, hence why they keep to the temple.

To his peers, he's quite serious and cold. Though, this gets more lighthearted the more time they spend with him. Then their perception of Kochiyo becomes closer to what some peopl call "temple Kochiyo".

Technique

Their breath style is breath of snow, derived from the breath of water. Their parents being breath of water and wind, they learned the basic forms of both but water turned out to be the one most compatible to them. Eventually, they derived a form from that which happened to be breath of snow. It utilizes aspects of both the breath of water and wind with Kochiyo's own additions.

Snow by nature isn't very lethal but overexposure to it can definitely result in hypothermia. Given this, their techique is very precise and focused because they heavily concentrate and focus that cold to wherever they aim. It is capable of completely freezing body parts over in full power.

Trivia

• Their hobbies include making sushi and making paper.
• When Kochiyo sends letters, the letters are always written on Wisteria paper that they make themselves
• They like Konpeito. They always carry a pouch of it around and much on some when they want a snack. This is supplied by Gekko.
• Their crow tends to talk for them. Sometimes she says things that she's not supposed to say and Kochiyo just glares at her.
• Their seniors know them as "Gekko's little assistant"
• Inosuke called Kochiyo "fish face" once. Kochiyo was going to direct and insult back at him and took off his mask. They were suprised to see a really pretty face so they put the mask back on and smacked him instead.

Relationships

Gekko Daikan [ Guardian ]

Kochiyo sees Gekko as a mother-figure since Gekko takes it upon himself to take care of them and is actually quite similar to Kochiyo's mother (whom they're very close to). They have very high respect for Gekko and is very obedient to him.

Tanjiro Kamado [ Acquaintance ]

Of course obligatory Tanjiro. Tanjiro really tries to get to know Kochiyo because that's just how Tanjiro do be. Kochiyo give him the cold shoulder at first. though upon seeing his skill, kindness, and resolve, they earned some level of respect for him. Now they at least bow back when Tanjiro greets them and hangs out with him and gang when they want him to.

Giyu Tomioka [ Guardian??? by extension?? ]

Honestly, he only interacts with him because he's Gekko's partner. They have great respect fo him as a person and as a pillar. They're very obedient to him but Gekko comes before anyone else. So if Giyu dares raise a fist against Gekko, Kochiyo won't hesitate to step to Gekko's side even if Giyu is his superior and he knows he can't possibly match up to Giyu.

Zenitsu Agatsuma [ Acquaintance ]

Is acquainted with Kochiyo by extension through Tanjiro. Kochiyo thinks it's strange that Zenitsu made it this far into the Slayer Corps being the way he is. Kochiyo is convinced that Zenitsu is just really lucky since he's never seen him in action. Zenitsu is convinced that Kochiyo is female but Kochiyo himself doesn't even try and refute that. Kochiyo always finds himself exhasperated at Zenitsu.

Inosuke Hashibira [ Friends ]

These two are an unlikely pair given how Kochiyo values order and how Inosuke is unruly. They even bicker a lot (well it's more like Inosuke is yelling at Kochiyo and Kochiyo is just making angry faces and slapping him). Though when Kochiyo found out that Inosuke couldn't read or write, they offered to teach him and they bonded through that. The more Kochiyo got to know about Inosuke, the more they got endeared by him.
