Like the Knight, the Guardian is a vessel that managed to make its way out of the abyss instead of accepting death. Its only goal is to find the Pale King and prove that they're worthy of being the Pure Vessel he'd been seeking, rather than a failure to be cast aside like the rest. Along his journey, he's been striking down enemies and absorbing as much Soul as it can from enemies in a futile attempt to reach a state pure enough for the Pale King to finally accept them. They've absorbed so much that the energy is visible coursing through their void body, but he doesn't believe it to be enough to earn the Pale King's praise. Due to the intense focus he puts on his sole mission, he's put no thought into the amount of infection spreading across the kingdom, and has no idea the Pale King- and practically everyone else- is already dead and gone.
