Personality

Apollo isn't one to move around very much. Most days he doesn't even leave the aviary. He's known to have depression spells, but otherwise he functions rather normally. He likes socializing with the other birds but doesn't prefer human interaction all that much. In fact, he seems to shriek and ruffle his feathers if a human gets too close. The exception is Ramses, since the caretaker has made it top priority to make sure Apollo is comfortable.

He doesn't get out very much, as stated before, but the staff have taken measures in order to get him outside. Due to the obvious relationship Apollo and Arelli have for each other, they will have Arelli lead Apollo outside. It seems she's really the only bird he'll follow. They have her lead him outside and he'll stay outside as long as she is within proximity. Both birds are usually within the general area Ramses tends to be in.

Overall, Apollo is rather reserved and isolated, but bits and pieces of his past personality do show up at times. He jumps and gets excited when salmon day rolls around, he'll 'try' to play with Marshall if he's in a good mood. After his wing had finally healed and he was able to fly again, his mood has become much better than it has ever been before.

History

Apollo, originally Crynochi, was born within the continent of Italy, and grew up there his father as his only parent. Once he had grown up, he had left his father and decided to go it alone. For a few years, it was just like that. He only flew once to Eagle Island but never wandered back since, since he, at one point, thought it unnecessary to have any sort of mate. He enjoyed being alone, for it was easier to get on. He didn't have to worry about anyone else, just himself.

Life was good... up until that fateful day. On the way back to his nest in the deeper thickets of Italy's countryside, he was shot in the wing by poachers. He plummeted to the ground but was caught... in a net by the very people who shot him. They threw him in a dog carrier and took him back to wherever they came from. They then placed him in a dark room and left him in there to rot. He was fed little, and barely ever saw the light of day. His wing was never able to heal completely, and so to this day, it is still bent in a strange and unnatural position.

It wasn't until three, four months was up that the eagle heard shouting and barking from the other room. He huddled in his little carrier, and soon saw a man come into the room. He picked up the carrier and brought him out to show people dressed in a dark blue... At least until the man whipped the cage to the other end of the room. The eagle was injured all the more at that point, and was soon picked up by the 'blue people' and rushed into their iron horse. They took him out of the cage and tended to his injuries the best they could while others took the men that had shot him and put them in cages... Anyone hearing his story will know that it felt good to see them placed in those. See how they like it!

Those people were arrested and charged for both animal cruelty and poaching. Meanwhile, Crynochi received critical care until the doctors could do no more. They had removed the bullet and bandaged his wounds but they believed they could do nothing about his wing. He was deemed unfit for release and brought to Keystone Park, where he now resides. Despite the doctor's thoughts and beliefs, the park believed they can get him flying again. They had his wing in a cast that stretched it out wide, and he received muscle therapy and exercised often. The park believed he'd get better and better each day, which he was, and after some time his wing seemed to have healed completely, and he was ultimately given the chance to fly. And fly he did! He flew all around the park and even farther... but eventually he did come back home, and he's remained with the park since.
