Cybelle Eurona

Cybelle is from a big, upper-class Ishgardian family that cares a lot about tradition. Therefore,  when it came time to distribute inheritance after the passing of her grandfather, she and her siblings got the short end of the stick. If she had remained in Ishgard, she was aware she would be married off to whoever asked first. Considering she was already in her late twenties, she decided to leave before she had to deal with that kind of fate, opting instead to make her way in the world as an adventurer. Besides, she reasoned, it would be nice to go somewhere a little warmer.

She is not particularly fond of combat—in fact, she's afraid of getting in too close. However, her strong sense of justice means she often gets herself into situations before she has time to think the consequences through, meaning she had to learn how to fight out of necessity. She prefers using chakrams over anything because she enjoys the mobility they give her on the battlefield.

In addition to learning and honing her combat abilities, Cybelle refined various other talents in pursuit of supporting her way in the world. Foremost among these was her business sense—perhaps innate for a woman from a merchant family, perhaps something her teachers unintentionally focused on when she was being taught. Whatever the case, Cybelle is adept with money, and has a keen financial sense that made her an asset for many a struggling shopkeeper just trying to balance the books. 

Despite being from Ishgard, Cybelle is not particularly interested in religion. She is what polite company would refer to as “passively religious”. 

She was born blind in her right eye, but suffers no problems with depth perception. This is due to her subconsciously using magic to obtain a sense of depth perception. However, this constant passive use of magic takes its toll on her active skill, causing her to be sub-par when it comes to using magic for combat. 

Family

Cybelle is close with her entire immediate family. While her parents do not particularly approve of her choice to leave Ishgard, nor of her choices to throw herself into dangerous situations, they at least can appreciate the fact that she is clearly flourishing while out in the world. They exchange letters every so often, although Cybelle omits some of the more terrifying details.

She has multiple siblings (that I haven’t totally decided on yet), including one younger brother, Narcisse. The two of them left Ishgard together, and while they quickly parted ways, they still run into each other fairly often. Because he is the closest in age to her, Cybelle feels perhaps a little closer to him than to some of her other siblings.

As for her wife, Cybelle met Rigel not long after she set out into greater Eorzea. While their initial meeting wasn’t the most amicable—Cybelle intervened while Rigel was fighting an enemy, assuming they needed help—it still was very close to love at first sight.
