Past

She was an accidental pregnancy and abortion methods did not fully work. The royal family wasn’t expecting a new family member so soon, but welcomed Jane into their hearts, although the father wasn’t so pleased. She came out with different coloured hands, one black and one white, both sparkly and transparent. It seemed unnatural but the parents kept her hands covered with tiny gloves and eventually forgot about it. She was a very beautiful baby, taking after her mother with her light blue eyes.

Following her turning 6 months old, Lady Jane started growing more hair, making it noticeable that it was divided into two different colours. Her father’s black hair on one side and her mother’s white on the other. She was taken to a medical doctor who refetred them to the witch doctor, a strangely magical being. They were told that the abortion she performed must have not only partially failed but altered Jane’s genes as well. Jane is a half-born child that cannot change the state of anything. Her touching things leave them as if they were never touched. People that go more than a day without seeing her again will begin to lose their memory of her.

The King and Queen were devastated for their youngest child. They were unsure whether to keep her or not, but ultimately decided to keep her while keeping her in the dark of why she is the way she is. She played with only her siblings and was taken care of well. The royal family was always afraid of being questioned because of their abnormal looking child and always took two separate photos for their album. One with Jane and one without, should a problem arise with the kingdom. Jane was loved among the kingdom after some time and was put out there with the royal family making false claims about her. Eventually, Jane was exposed, having everyone turn their backs to her. She was then kept away from the public eye, everyone soon forgetting her existence. At this point, she was only 12. She ran away, visiting the witch doctor, who told her everything her family hasn't and her path of dealing with her partial existence began. She appeared back at the palace engulfed in sadness and feelings of loss. They didn't know she knew the truth until Jane snapped. She created a distance between her and them.

Results

After the events of Jane finding out the truth about herself, she quietly lived her life inside the palace, never stepping outside. She was treated as if she never existed to the public eye. Her family barely made contact with her. Jane requested to have her room moved into the top of one of the towers. She wanted to be isolated from the family that betrayed her.

Lady Jane kept herself locked up in the other side of the castle until she was truly ready to let go. She stored away her sparkling tiara and left the castle for the first time in months. She didn’t go far at first, still hurt from the betrayal of her people. She found a clothing shop and ordered a customized dress she designed. After a few days and a few more visits to the outside world, Jane felt reborn in her new, flowy dress. She slowly started opening her eyes and moving about in the world, leaving her past identity behind. She decided to keep venturing while creating paintings to hold memories of herself.

Extra Information

• Lady Jane sells copies of paintings she creates at small marketplaces.
• She adopted two stray cats who she named Solar(Van) and Saturn(Snowshoe). They became her companions as she travelled outside of the castletown walls.
• All directly serving the royal family (guards, kitchen staff, maids, etc) have pictures of her and are instructed to serve Jane no different than the rest of the family at any point in time that she returns. She doesn't return often, and sometimes returns for money if she really needs it.
• She is not completely numb to her partial existence and sometimes has breakdowns.
• She enjoys archery.
• Lady Jane never settles in any place.
