[x] Attina's sense of smell is very strong, so she is very sensitive to odors. Part of what she hates about humans is how stinky they are.

[x] When Attina gets wet, her body breaks out in brilliant blue scales.

[x] Because of this, she has to stay indoors when it rains.

[x] Attina can sense the electric pulses in the human body. So she can literally sense when people are afraid of her. She mistakes infaution for fear.

Attina is the middle daughter in a family of seven... sirens. Her family and her lived in the rivers of Africa, where they were often mistaken for manatees (or, manatees would be mistaken for them.) Sometimes Attina would swim out into the ocean and travel long distances on curious expeditions. Her younger sister would often come with her and beg Attina to take her close to human ships. While Attina and her siren friends enjoyed competitive ship sinking, her younger sister was obsessed with humans and didn't think it was fair to sink them.
During those days, Attina found her sister kind of weird and silly. But one day, her little sister up and vanished. Attina worried herself sick. She found out that her little sister had made a "devilish" deal to lose her fins and walk on land, in an attempt to follow a human she had saved from a shipwreck. This magic was not strange to sirens, as they all had it. In exchange for a wish, a siren could perform one magical miracle... The catch being that they had to see their wish come true, or they would turn into seafoam.
Angry at humans for, as Attina called it, tricking and killing her sister, Attina began sinking more and more ships out of frustration. She was finally caught by a Supernatural Council and sentenced to "immortal prison" for the next four years.
In this case, "immortal prison" meant having to live out a mortal High School life. In other words, Attina had been sentenced to h e l l . She hated it. She was rude to everyone. She hated all of the humans there and only socialized with other supernaturals. Then she found out that her little sister had attended the nearby middle school, and everything changed. Attina began fishing for information to find her sister and rescue her from the humans, before it was too late.

Attina is a loud, bright, and forward person who doesn't take shit from anyone. When she arrived in human school, she surprised all of her classmates with how impossible she was to throw off balance. Her classmates initially bullied Attina for keeping to herself, for speaking softly, and for being a big bodied girl. But never once did they get any reaction from her. If pushed hard then Attina would push back in a terrifying way, but she generally paid no one any real attention...

Well... She didn't pay any attention to any humans. One defining part of Attina's character is a complete dis-interest in land dwellers. She finds the way that they conquer nature instead of living with it to be pathetic. This mindset shows in how Attina will never try to "conquer" or defeat anyone, even if they bully her, but will push them off her back and set boundaries. Attina doesn't think highly enough of humans to find their teasing very interesting. So they think her thick legs are gross? Cool! So does Attina, honestly. She misses her gorgeous plump tail of sparkling blue scales! And she thinks human legs are gross. Similarly, Attina doesn't care about name calling or jabs from any human simply because humans are below her.

But Attina does have room to respect the paranormal beings in her school. She will give them a chance, even though most of them are smelly land dwellers.
