In Ezra’s world, about 70 years previous, a sudden influx of people with genetic mutations were born. As some of these mutations manifested in the form of superpowers, the society was turned on its head and found itself completely reorganized. Those with desirable, popular, or “attractive” anomalies formed the higher class, and those with “useless”, “ugly”, or unpopular anomalies (or even no mutation at all) were at the bottom.

Ezra was born from parents that were both high-class. After infancy testing was completed, it was determined that Ezra’s only mutations were that of appearance (horns, abnormal hair and eye color). Since he had no mutation that was considered high-class, he was designated Class 4 and sent to be raised in the slums.

As Ezra grew older however, he proved to have well above-average reflexes and hand-eye coordination. The manifestation of these physical skills could do nothing to change his class designation though, so he was destined to live his life in less-than-ideal conditions. He was determined to make the best of the cards that life dealt him, so he pledged to do what he could to improve the conditions of his fellow Class 4 members and make a difference to the unfairness of the class system.

His outgoing and gentlemanly personality, as well as his political goal, has proved popular to the slum population and he has been unofficially elected as the primary representative of Class 4. He spends his time doing what he can to assist others and protesting those that have organized the society in its current configuration.

Ezra found that he was naturally adept at the ways of the sword, so he managed to obtain one and uses it when his life (or the lives of those he protects) is threatened. He only uses it in extreme situations, as he strongly prefers to resolve conflicts in a peaceful and calm manner.
