As a hagfish merman, Alexandre can eat almost anything, even rotten corpses, without falling ill. Moreover, his spine stops from his coccyx to become a cartilaginous thread allowing him to tie himself up in an overhand knot. He has photosensitive areas instead of eyes, but can see his surroundings anyway thanks to his whiskers.
Like all my merpeople, Alexandre has an "almost-human" form in which he still lacks eyes and keeps his thoothy tongue and whiskers. Usually, people don't care about the latter because it looks like he's an eccentric who put hair gel on some hair and beard hair. However he hides his lack of eyes with sunglasses and pretends to have a disease that prevents him from seeing the sunlight.Also my merpeople are ovoviviparous, so they don't have nipples nor a belly button

History
In this world, though merpeople don't have real politics, hagfish are seen as some kind of "nobles" since they are very useful to clean the environment and have very few predators.
Alexandre has two brothers, Charles and Amaury, respectively four and two years older than him, and a little sister named Maria who's two years younger than him. Their parents are Magdalena and a yet unnamed merman. Charles, Amaury and their father consider Alexandre a shame for their family because he's a sadistic troublemaker that has no respect for their position, but Amaury is also a manipulative man who just prefers mental abuse over physical abuse. Charles knows it and they get along very well, they are both Lawful evil. Alexandre dislikes them anyway and doesn't want anything to do with them. However he loves his mother and sister who love him back.
When he was 9, his family met Stéphane, a lamprey boy the same age than him, who had lost his parents. Magdalena decided to adopt him and he became best friends with Alexandre. This one had a bad influence on Stéphane, who's pretty much the leader of the duo, and for years they lived carelessly, bullying weaker merpeople, drowning humans near beaches...
One day, when he was around 25, Alexandre met Félix near the reef where he and Steph were staying, and tried to intimidate and harass him for a few days. Luckily for Félix, his friends Gaël and Gabriel were also staying in the neighbourhood and once Gabriel heard about the situation he immediately came to the rescue. However, when he met Alexandre, he saw the similarities between them and a potential friend in him; thus, instead of fighting him, Gabriel tried to annoy him by flirting with him insistently. Alexandre got really confused and left. The next day he came back with Stéphane, who didn’t really care about this incident, but this time Gaby and Félix were also accompanied by Gaël. No one actually wanted to fight, even for credibility, so they talked it over and Alexandre ended up apologizing to Félix. After that, since some of them had a lot in common, they decided to hang out together and became friends. The trio had a positive influence on Stéphane and Alexandre's behaviour.
Stéphane
[ Adoptive brothers, boyfriends ] They are soulmates and in a "kinda" open relationship. Stéphane is less attracted to other people than Alexandre, who himself prefers hooking up with his friends Gaël and Gabriel rather than strangers.
Félix
[ Victim and bully (formerly), Friends ] At first, Alexandre bullied Félix for fun. After Gabriel's intervention, when they all started hanging out together, it took about a year and half for Félix to stop seeing Alexandre as a threat, get used to his presence and almost trust him. Alexandre finds him cute but has a hard time relating to him due to their opposite personalities.
Gaël
[ Friends (with benefits) ] Gaël kinda manages to channel Alexandre's chaotic energy. Sometimes they hook up.
