Profile

A well known stage actor, dancer and singer. He wasn't treated well by the others in Manhattan as a child due to his obvious karkan blood, but he managed to attract a group of friends who didn't care and who all shared a common interest: acting, singing, and dancing. They started off as street performers and buskers and, as Sarakisha aged into a very attractive young man, attracted a large enough crowd that they were allowed use of Manhattan's theatre as a featured performance. After 30 years only two of their original troupe remain: Sarakisha and his closest friend and former lover, Usvan.

During one of their performances Sarakisha noticed a half-karkan lurking in the crowd. He recognized him as Hoani, a notorious thief and, if the rumors were to be believed, murderer. Sarakisha did not believe the rumors and took pity on Hoani, since he himself was treated badly for being karkankin. He had a kind heart, and believed that Hoani was just misguided because of the amount of prejudice and abuse he no doubt received. Hoani kept returning to his performances, though he always ran off and never spoke to him afterward - until he did one day, following him home after a late-night show. Hoani was trying to get a rise from him, to make him afraid, but Sarakisha was not. He told Hoani that he understood the anger he felt and what he'd gone through, but Hoani was enraged by his answer and lack of fear, and ran off.

Despite this, Hoani continued to sneak into the theatre house. Eventually he began to linger after shows, and Sarakisha would meet him with small gifts and encouragements. They very slowly grew closer - close enough for Hoani to start to break into Sarakisha's home at night. He never did anything that Sarakisha could tell, simply stayed the night and left before he awoke. He figured Hoani wanted the company, and instead of being concerned, began to leave dried fruits out for him.

Half-karkans can feel others' emotions through touch, so Sarakisha likes to have Hoani touch him so he can feel how much he is loved.

(When his and Hoani's friendship is revealed, Sarakisha's life comes tumbling down, as no one in Manhattan trusts him anymore. He is driven out of his troupe and once again becomes a target for harassment, and with nowhere to go, he leaves Manhattan with Hoani. They become wanderers, hopping from tribe to tribe - the nomadic tribes outside of Manhattan's urban, sedentary bubble are much more accepting of karkankin, and lend them a willing hand.

He does, deep down, blame Hoani for ruining his life, but he is in too deep to let go of him now.)

--

Sarakisha is around 40, closer to 30 in human years, but appears much younger than he actually is. He has smooth, pale skin, a long face, and his black hair is done up with half in a topknot tied with a long white ribbon and the rest loose, hanging to the small of his back. A silver hairpiece in the shape of the crescent moon is affixed to the topknot. His eyes are the only thing that betrays his karkan blood: they are milky white and completely blank. He is quite tall, standing around 6'3. He is slender and holds himself with a regal grace, but comes off as friendly and serene rather than cold and unapproachable.

When on stage, he wears flowing white robes that swirl with his exaggerated movements. The rest of the time, though, he wears a simple white ruqun.
