Emotional State: RELAXED

Most notable by their dull fur color, lack of bioluminescence, and calm movements.
This emotional state is calm cool and collected. At this point, Xie is more level headed and is able to make clear conscious decisions. Though this does not negate their desire to feed off of other's emotions to receive their next high as this state makes them view the mortal world as dreadfully boring.

Emotional State: ACTIVE

Most notable by their dark fur color, pink and blue bioluminescence found all around their body, swirling eyes, and erratic movement.
In this state Xie feels more at "home". The rings in their eyes will start to pulsate and swirl to create a hypnotic stare (Imagine Kaa from the Jungle Book). He can also freely control the luminecence all over his body.

"Chittercida are parasitic demons who are sustained by the emotions of others. They have recently migrated to the material world from their home on the spectral plane. Most share the common goal of developing an understanding of emotions and integrating into the natural world. Others pursue their supernatural origins."

The emotion Xie is most attracted to is anxiety, the slowly accumulating feeling of disconnection, disassociation, dizziness, and even sometimes shortness of breath is the high they live for.
Xie normally is not tied down to one host for their emotional binge, however, and instead tends to hop between three to five people at a time. When shadowing an individual that tends to have high anxiety Xie will act as a "secondary voice" or "the voice in your head" by whispering that individual's fears, mistakes, and imaginary scenarios. This "voice" tends to make the anxiety spike and last much longer.
Once Xie is finished feeding off their host they leave and live their high life (Emotional State: Active). The host is often left feeling emotionally unstable and drained, unaware that the parasitic demon was around.
