Phyn is one of four main protagonists in a story I've been cultivating since around 2011. Although there is not much to show for it, these characters and their story are very dear to me. I hope you like them!

Abilities »
Healing
Phyn's healing powers are rooted (ha ha) in botanical medicine. She also carries seeds of many medicinal plants; she can use her powers on these seeds to speed up the growth process rapidly, immediately giving her the product needed. In extreme circumstances, she could, theoretically, used her vines and thorns to enter a deep wound and close it up. Theoretically, she may need this. Possibly for one of her best friends. But what would I know.
Hypnosis - Medusa's Gift
Somewhere in their lineage, Phyn's ancestor was the lover to a gorgon. Their mixed species powers caused a genetic mutation - instead of passing on the classic gorgon gene of turning a being to stone, the genes mutated. The result was still a power to stop people in their tracks, but instead of physical barriers, they become mental. Phyn can practice minor mind control through hypnosis, although she uses this as an absolute last resort as she finds it inherently manipulative and violating for the opposition. Probably because it is.
Clarify
A more subtle ability of Phyn's, they hold the Power of Clarity - an ability to 'see' answers in situations that are vague, grey, uncertain. It allows them a greater understanding and a look into the actions of those around her. Between Phyn's Clarify and Gallaver's Emotion Reading, they make a very strong mental team. Sometimes the ability causes them to think very starkly black and white, and other times they find the answer very difficult to deal with. Sometimes, there just isn't a straight answer - this frustrates her greatly. She aces all her tests, but technically its not cheating!

Medical Knowledge
Phyn has an impressive memory bank of medical knowledge, helped greatly by the fact that one of her mums is a surgeon/doctor. They study medicine at a tertiary education institute.
Talk-Down
Their incredible understanding of why people feel the way that they do has assisted more than once in talking down someone who is hysterical or aggressive. She is highly skilled in being able to present facts and logic to a distressed individual in a way that doesn't make the offender feel ashamed or misunderstood.

Summary »
Childhood
Phyn grew up an only child up until the age of 10, when her mums decided to take on a nine year old child who's previous foster parents could no longer care for him. David joined the family and became a brother figure to her. Their mothers were always very loving but could be a little overprotective, sometimes becoming overbearing and treating them like they weren't capable. It took a long while before Phyn finally got through to them that they were more than capable, although the stress from the whole situation caused their relationship to become a little rocky. WIP
Modern Day
Phyn and David moved out into their own house, allowing more freedom for them. They both visit home often, and still live in the same town. Phyn participates work placement at the hospital that her mum works at. WIP

- Phyn's original name was uh... not great. Kinda unintentionally racist. Whoops younger unknowing me. Her design has had the same base elements all the way through, although she does look quite different compared to the first rendition.
- Their first redesign was when the gorgon-esque hair snakes were introduced.
- She pierced her own nose.
- Motifs include eyes, optical illusions, vines, reptiles, medical symbols.
