Arietes is a spirit. A god of winter. He has the power to freeze oceans, cover entire mountains in snow, create spikes of ice larger than houses. And he uses it to play pranks on unsuspecting lions.

He is immortal. He’s lived for hundreds, maybe thousands of years. He stopped counting long ago. Immortality means very little when there is noone you can share it with. It is impossible for mortals to see him and therefore to interact with him. Most gods accept that fact and are satisfied with the limited contact they get from prayers and shrines dedicated to them. Arietes doesn’t have a dedicated shrine. For whatever reason noone likes winter. New shrines for gods of spring pop on every corner while he remains forgotten and unwanted.

His life changed drastically after a certain encounter. He decided to follow an especially devoted healer, finding her selfless attitude hilarious. What’s the point of taking care of all those old, needy lions and getting nothing back when she could be having fun instead? She happened to be not only a medic, but also a lioness with a gift of seeing spirits. Finally having another soul to chat, Arietes stayed by her side since. She showed him a world his never known before and made him feel emotions yet unknown.

They fell in love, but their happiness didn’t last long. Ovella fell ill and soon passed away. However, before that happened she prayed for the last piece of her soul to be given to Arietes so that he could become semi-mortal and visible to lions. Ari is able to spend his days in happiness, knowing that his beloved is forever with him. He still likes to prank, but also uses his powers to do good.
