Design Notes:

• He's based on Idotea phosphorea (a type of marine isopod), not on mint chocolate
• Two pairs of antennae
  • One extra long and the other just short little nubs
  • Both relatively thin
• Perpetually scruffy looking, especially his face 
• Wiry, lanky-but-muscular build
• Leg and antennae markings are a gradient from cream to dark brown
  • Can be stylized as a textured painty gradient or a smooth airbrush gradient -- neither is more correct than the other, it's just personal stylistic preference
• Pointy tail 

Character Notes:

• Semi-retired marine bio professor
  • Sticks around to teach 1-2 classes a semester as a "favor" to the university (but mostly just because he's bored)
  • Now that he's "retired" he's gotten even more devil-may-care about his teaching method than he already was
  • His students love him
