Yako
About
Yako is a blue-ringed octopus octoling, she was originally from the Underground nearby Octo Canyon, but was able to migrate to Inkopolis.
Being alone and in a new town with a very different culture from her own, Yako struggled to intergrate into Inkling society at first. People gradually began to take more positive notice of her after she continuously proved herself as a formidable opponent and skilled teammate in both Turf and Ranked battles. Eventually, Yako was able to secure a part-time job in a small cafe, and afford an even smaller apartment, not too long after this, Harper decided to approach her as he'd taken notice in her skills, the two of them began to train and battle alongside each other during Turf battles.
A couple of months after Harper and Yako had gotten to know her, Harper offered her a space on his team - the Bluefin Banes - as they needed a fourth member for their team, Yako was anxious at first and nervous about meeting the other team members, but she accepted. To Yako's surprise, the other team members - Paella and Scamp - were pretty receptive towards her joining, despite Paella's naturally more cold and stoic attitude, and Scamp's hyperactivity. She quickly began to develop a close friendship with the two of them.
At some point Yako and Harper started dating, but they mostly keep it quiet and between themselves.

- She has a sister called Taki.
- Yako spends a lot of her time at the Banes' warehouse in Bluefin Depot.
- Her favourite game mode is Clam Blitz.
- Yako has a strong passion for the Pro League, despite her quiet demeanor.
- Her hairstyle is based on tako sausages.
- The fuchsia areas on the top of her head and on her octopus form are the areas that change colour depending on the ink colour she's using.

Relationships
Yako and Harper have a very close relationship. Harper was the first friend that Yako had when she moved to Inkopolis, he eventually invited her to join the Bluefin Banes. Sometime after that, the two of them developed a quiet relationship together.
Paella is Yako's best friend, the two get along very well and enjoy each other's company, often being on the same wavelength. Paella enjoys relaxing with Yako after a long Salmon Run shift, she also enjoys how Yako is another calmer member of the group, as Scamp's energy and Harper's analytics can become draining.
Scamp and Yako get along pretty well. Yako finds him fun to be around, but she can sometimes find his high-energy and spontaneous nature very exhausting.
