reposting my Q&A section from my art blog here, just for ease of access, with an additional section about things pertaining to my characters
please keep in mind that these aren't really "hard" guidelines, i'm not going to get on your ass about most of this stuff or anything, i generally don't give much of a shit, but this does explain my general permissions and preferences with how people handle my work

CHARACTERS

Q. can i ask questions about your OCs?
A. absolutely! i love talking about my OCs and lore

Q. can i draw fanart of your OCs?
A. of course!

Q. can i draw NSFW fanart of your OCs?
A. as long as you are over 18, go for it, i'd also appreciate it if people could read my NSFW blacklist first, as there are a few boundaries i have, but generally i really don't give a shit, go wild lmao

Q. do you do trades or adopts? can i buy any of your OCs?
A. no, i will never trade nor sell any of my OCs, and currently i'm not really interested in making adopts, but that might change in the future

Q. who is the character you use as your avatar across platforms? is he your sona?
A. he's not my sona, but his name is hersh and he's one of my oldest and favourite OCs, you can read more about him here

FANTROLL-SPECIFIC

Q. do you have a fanventure for your trolls?
A. i actually do, but it's a huge WIP at the moment so i'm not going to link it anywhere until i get more artwork finished for it

Q. why don't your trolls have grubscars?
A. i think they're dumb lol

Q. why doesn't artina have psionics?
A. in the setting for my trolls, i follow the 'classic' homestuck canon with psionics being a rare mutation in goldbloods, and artina doesn't have said mutation

Q. what's the story behind zxitey? aren't limebloods extinct?
A. the setting for my trolls takes place in a universe/setting that is completely and utterly separated from hiveswap/homestuck, on zxitey's planet (noware) limebloods were never culled and are one of the more common blood types

Q. will you adjust anything about your fantrolls given new information that might be released?
A. unless it's something i think is actually really cool/interesting, then nah, i really don't give a shit about any of the "post-canon" content other than hiveswap act 1 and friendsim because it's otherwise all utter trash

WORK

Q. are your commissions open?
A. as of 2023, my commissions are closed to the public, please refer to this page on my art blog for more details

Q. how can i contact you for professional freelance business?
A. i'm still open for professional business, but please also refer to this page

Q. you said your commissions are closed, but i still see you uploading new commission work, how come?
A. sometimes i still take a handful of private commissions from friends of mine, these are strictly limited to friends, and i don’t usually take these often

Q. why won’t you draw ______? 
A. i have various reasons for these; either i don’t think my skill level is quite there yet, or it’s not the kind of work i'm currently interested in

Q. i still want to support your work, do you have a ko-fi or patreon?
A. i do, you can find my ko-fi here and my patreon here, however, my patreon is closed until sometime in the future, as i currently cannot offer much in terms of rewards

DISTRIBUTION

Q. can i use your art as an icon/banner/etc.?
A. sure, just please credit me somewhere if possible, you can link back to my twitter, artstation, newgrounds, my art tumblr, or my main tumblr, crediting me as either Dax or Daxite is also okay

Q. can i trace/copy your art?
A. as long as you credit me and link back to the original work somewhere, i don’t mind

A. generally no, but if you contact me specifically about this i'd be happy to potentially work something out

Q. can i use your art in a project (such as a game, animation, etc.)?
A. please contact me specifically about this

Q. can i add a content ID/descriptive caption when sharing your work?
A. sure, though i’d prefer you DM it to me with a link to my original post so that i can attach them to the image description/ALT instead if possible, and fix any potential formatting issues

PERSONAL

Q. what tools do you use?
A. i use an inutos pro medium and SAI 2, i also use photoshop 2025, and clip studio paint for additional details and effects

Q. how long have you been drawing?
A. i’ve been drawing for as long as i can remember, but i started wanting to pursue art more seriously from when i was around 10 - 12 years old

Q. are you self-taught?
A. almost entirely, i did study an art & design diploma during college from 2015 - 2017, and i'm currently studying under a bachelor's degree for game art at university, but the vast majority of my knowledge comes from my own self-studying and practice within my own time since childhood

Q. do you have any NSFW accounts?
A. i do, but i don't link or openly share them as i don't want minors directly clicking on them, if you are an adult you can probably find them relatively easily though

CRYPTO/AI

Q. what is your stance on NFTs?
A. they’re a dead fad and i think they’re dumb lol, please don't contact me about NFT-related projects, i am not – and never will be – interested in any NFT content, and you cannot ever use my works in such projects.

Q. what about cryptocurrency?
A. the majority of my feelings towards cryptocurrency are unrelated to art, so i won’t go into detail here, but to put it briefly; i will never be interested in using any of my works or characters for any crypto-related projects/currencies, if there is a cryptocurrency using any of my work or characters, i have absolutely zero involvement with it, i also don't accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment for my work, sorry

Q. what about AI-generated artwork?
A. whilst i’m not “anti-AI”, i strongly believe that AI-generated content needs to be regulated as firmly and as quickly as possible, AI has its place as an incredibly useful tool and resource in a variety of fields, but it should never be something that is used to replace creatives, i strongly disagree with using AI-generated content of any kind for profit or claiming AI content as original work, and all artists should be respected first and foremost when it comes to sourcing for AI
