Biography

A few hundred years ago, A 30 year old woman was courted by a vampire named Paul, posing as a reverend but secretly leading a cabal of vampires. After he turned her into a vampire, her old life no longer mattered, and her name became Paula. She was quite thankful, as far as she was concerned, it was a huge step up in life. She worked underneath Paul for a few decades, but her ambition and power quickly grew to match his. She'd never dream of betraying her, but the same couldn't be said of the rest of the cabal. One of the lower members executed Paul and claimed dominance of his empire, but Paula quickly retaliated and claimed sole ownership of the cabal.

A hundred years later, the 1900s began in earnest. Paula's cabal transitioned into a mafia-like organization. She recruited a frail and elderly Faun, naming him Manson, and he eventually became her powerful and eternally loyal second in command. In this era, Paula reigned supreme as a brutal leader, who held the entire city in her pocket. She distributed alcohol during the prohibition era, and blood to any vampire who could pay. Politicians feared her, she had law enforcement in her pocket, and disappearances were just as common as the discoveries of dried up husks.

But, over the next hundred years, Ms Paula changed again. As she aged, she softened. Her already massive love for her Family grew even stronger, and while she still didn't care much about the nameless nobodies that wandered the streets, she increasingly began to spare them. Eventually, she claimed a blood bank as a money-laundering front, and a new base of operations. The price of blood did not rise as inflation did, until it went from a business to a veritable charity. It is true that she's still questionably moral, certainly many would-be blood donors don't know that their blood is going to feed hungry vampires, she still regular bribes politicians and law enforcement, and there's other criminal enterprises she engages in... but overall Ms Paula is no longer a threat. She found Strawberry Cream as a newly created vampire only a few short years ago, and she quickly rose to a position just underneath Manson's, though she had no idea that Strawberry Cream's ambition was even greater than hers...

When a group of meddling heroes interfered with her plans, she found herself not trying to destroy them, but rather allying herself with them and their plans. She acknolwedged their power, especially after they dealt with the traitorous Strawberry Cream. She loosed them on Sirina Darkflame, her criminal rival, and in exchange she personally aided them in combat and with all the resources she had to offer.

Trivia

In-Game Fighting Style

  • Vampires are not repelled by garlic. However, most food makes them sick, and they have a particularly bad time with spices, which may have been where the myth began. That said, vampires can stomach a decently-sized amount of foods... mostly meat, but also eggs and cheese, and they can drink coffee and alcohol as well. This cannot replace their need for blood!
  • Similarly, vampires are not vulnerable to wooden stakes, that myth came from a very lucky vampire hunter.
  • The holy water and the sunlight weakness is real, though. But vampires can survive in the sun for a few hours (albeit getting badly burned)... and with the invention of vampire-grade sunscreen, that length of time has only increased.
  • Vampires aren't actually immortal! They live for about 400 years after they first get turned, regardless of how old they were or what species they were before. They do not age like how humans do, a vampire turned at 18 or 60 will still look 18 or 60 centuries in the future. Instead, they get more monstrous instead.
  • In the last century of their life, they become Nosferatu-esque in appearance, it as this point when they are the most threatening.
  • But, in the last few decades of a vampire's life, they degrade into batlike creatures, losing their intelligence and overall threat, even as they reach their peak physical strength.
  • Ms Paula has a huge collection of outfits, collecting every fancy suit, or pair of shoes, through every decade she's lived through... even a few dresses and gowns that she rarely wears.
  • She works really hard to maintain her collection, having each article of clothing restored as it fades or comes undone, even when she hasnt worn a particular outfit for decades!
  • During special occasions, Ms Paula does actually prefer to wear one of her dresses, treating her formal men's outfits more as casualwear. People who don't know her well are often caught way off guard. She never wears actual casual-wear without good reason.
  • She also secretely has a foot fetish and likes it when people kiss her shoes.
  • The middle of Ms Paula's life was when she was most brutal. When she was young, she killed but was still squeamish about it. Nowadays, she has no qualms or hesitation whatsoever, but is very clearly tired of it.
  • Ms Paula refuses to admit to herself that she's gone soft. As far as she's concerned she's just as brutal as ever. Part of this is ego, but she also forgot just how violent she was during the prohibition era.
  • Ms Paula truly cannot remember much from before she became a vampire. She knows that those years were terrible and she's glad to have put them behind her. She's even forgotten her old name by now, though if you said it, she'd remember.

Miss Paula is a fighter who lasts in a fight by using life-steal. She's a completely mana-less character, casting all of her abilities from her decently sized health pool. Powerful all around, with good attack power, magic power, self-buffs, and debuffs, but her ability to recover qucikly is her biggest strength. Her promotions are to Black Countess and Blood Knight. Black Countess is all about magic, weakening enemies before moving in for the kill. Blood Knight does away with the subtlty of it all and focuses more on raw attack power.
