Personality

Merlin is an optimistic romanticist at heart. A skilled and dutiful teacher, his determination shape him into a formidable force in the field. He believes that he can uphold his just and idealistic beliefs, even in the chaotic times that surrounds him. In his professional appearance in college, he deeply cares for students, especially those are struggle or have trouble finding their ways through the school year. His counterpart in the Pavilion keeps these beliefs yet strengthens his image as an imposing leader.

Even with his good traits, Merlin is very innocent and unassuming to the point that people consider him to be stupid. His idiotic candor and blatant anachronisms are running gags in his conversations with the other Headmasters. And most especially the peers in his University.

However, his innocence is merely a ploy as to how he really feels towards them. Knowing respect and kindness seem to be the only way to get by them so easily - he often thinks lowly towards humans and his mind often degrades them constantly to a point he considers them nonexistent in his somewhat of a clear mindset.

The story

Merlin has been a hardworking individual in the educational system among several college campuses. Now after transferring a few times here to there, he found himself as a dean in the very same University that Viktor teaches. Viktor has only met Merlin once throughout his years teaching, but Konstantinov found Merlin to be more promising than those he's considered taking his place.

Thus he asked Merlin to take his place. Garrets, hesitant at first, takes his offer and becomes one of the most powerful leaders in the education system within a span of a few days.
Officially being called "the Dean" in the Pavilion, Merlin is still the newest member with very little experience as to what the Prodigal is. Of course, he has met every other Headmaster in the Pavilion, but hasn't been able to connect with them in a personal and emotional level - something Garrets could not really do so willingly.
But he merely wants to take this opportunity as a Headmaster to help change the world. Earth is struggling trying to keep it from becoming a wreck as it is now, so he uses whatever connections and influences to increase the focus on the environment by tenfold.

Trivia

• The Dean's role is widely important to the Prodigal:
  > Having the opportunity to oversee and advise over the Education system in the university already gives him power across other professors and students.
  > His influences as a professor gives his students his ideals that will eventually be put out once they graduate with an education.
  > Believes that education is important for children of all ages, and thus education is the future of world today. 
• A vegan; very much against the idea of animal consumption.
  > Ironically wears tweed suits; which is most of the time... made of 100% to blended wool.
  > His politeness and respect overcomes his dietary practice and thus whenever he is invited to a meal and is served anything that isn't vegan then he will still eat it nonetheless, in a very small quantity.
• Very much hates Emil.
• Aside from being a Dean, he teaches Environmental sciences.
  > Occasionally teaches some art classes like flower arrangement and woodcarving.
• Has put in majority of the money he earns into conservation projects and environmentally-friendly ideas that he whole-heartedly supports.
• Since he entered the Prodigal, he moved into the Pavilion with four other Headmasters. He also has three other homes:
  > His first home is located near his university; the house he lived before he moved to the Pavilion. Merlin lives with his brother Percival and his son Hayden. He has a large garden at the backyard that he cares for constantly.
  > His second home is a literal treehouse somewhere along a nearby forested area.
  > Third home is a Volkwagen Bus/Van and uses it to travel to places - which is often.
• Owns four rescue cats, and two dogs.
  > Has about five animal sanctuaries and shelters that help care for domesticated animals.
• Finds it difficult to flirt with others; everytime he says something sweet he becomes nervous and turns rosy pink easily.

Relationships

Percival  [ Brother ]

Percival is Merlin's older brother that he worries at a day-to-day basis; and one of the only individuals that doesn't hate their guts. Percy used to be filled with emotions and expressive behaviors but after adopting Hayden, the older he grew eventually turned him emotionless. He often recommends Percy to see a Therapist or Mental Counselor to check up on his mental stability but he seemed healthy aside from the lack of emotions he's portrayed for the past years. He shares a house together near Merlin's university and everytime he comes home - Percy is the first one to talk to him.

Hayden  [ Nephew ]

Hayden was cared for by Percival alone when he decided to adopt him. As usual, he was quite concerned for Percy's decision, towards the end of the day he'd join in by caring for Hayden until he was old enough live independently. He adores his nephew dearly, but never gotten the idea that Hayden wasn't human in the first place and had sucked away all of the emotions from Percival since he brought him to their home. Yet, for some reason Hayden's powers weren't able to deteriorate all of the emotions Merlin portrays? Perhaps Hayden sucked away something else that no one seemed to notice...

Viktor  [ Superior ]

It was time that Viktor should step down from his work and finally retire. After Maximille's death, the Prodigal work pulled a heavy toll on Viktor's health, especially when days went by slower and age was catching up to him quite hastily. Although stepping down didn't stop him from teaching! He meets the promising Merlin with an ambition so close to his - Viktor saw the amount of potential the Dean had and thus wanted him to take his place. Every other candidate was completely forgotten when Merlin came into play. Because the Dean was new at the Prodigal, he often seeks Viktor's advice on campus about the Prodigal's system and perhaps some of the Headmasters that he struggles connecting with.

Milkfather [ Rival ]

The Dean hates Emil. Perhaps the "Milkfather" based his whole life around dairy consumption, but it was also their scientific studies and purposes differed greatly. Garrets seeks to science for the benefit of the world itself and its environmental factors - trying to find a way to relieve Earth's downfall. On the otherhand, Emil pursues science for the sake and betterment of human development and evolution. Dean finds records of Milkfather's "Mad Cow" experiments that killed several experimental subjects in the past due to this Mad Cow project, and now he is afraid that Emiliano continues to pursue that practice once more. He also believes that human progression should cease, as humans themselves are hurting the environment for the sake of their selfish wellbeing.
