Ciel has a strong spiritual sense. Apparently, his type of soul attracts spirits easily and they take liking to him. However, even though the spirits attracted to him aren't dangerous or does him harm, they do love to play pranks on him. They realized that Ciel really hates it when they sing as they are horrendous at it, which is why they often surround him and sings to pester him. They sang so much that Ciel has loss of sleep but as they are spirits, they do not understand how Ciel needs sleep to survive. Recently though, Ciel managed to level up in his spiritual sense so much so that he can touch them if his emotions are strong enough.

When the spirits pass the line, Ciel who mustered up all his frustration and anger will grab hold of them and force them into his sweater which was knitted with spiritual powers. The ghosts who are trapped inside would still sing not knowing that Ciel will not be able to hear them. As the spiritual power of the sweater loses over time, the spirits escape and the cycle repeats. When the spiritual powers are charged enough and Ciel gets frustrated again, he would use the sweater as a jail time for them again.
