bio
note: reed is based on dragon age and d&d lore, but not a character meant to be played. his backstory, as with most my other characers, is not to show he is right, but to show that both he and his family have made mistakes. also i'm keeping the inquisition inspired bits in because its my oc. professionally, reid is a deliveryman. his employer, whom he never talks about in detail, has him deliver "unconventional items" such as magical artifacts, old spell scrolls, and even has him escort people between dangerous areas. inbetween jobs, he enjoys travelling and seeing the sights. in a book he carries with him at all times, reid writes down his experiences and sketches places he finds beautiful. although reid loves to wander and avoids staying in one place longer than a couple of months, making him spend long periods of time in the wilderness, he always asserts that cities are his true place to be. he finds peace in walking around the bustle of it all, his favorites being anywhere bards play at night (which usually means taverns). reid considers himself to be pretty sneaky and subtle, as well as observant to his surroundings. he chooses to fight using blades, despite having been born able to wield freezing cold magic. he was raised in an environment that sought to destroy magic, therefore he feels magic is an unpredictable curse upon his life. the only time he uses magic, is in dire situations, usually opting to use blood magic, which is generally seen as "evil" or "heretic" by most people. reid was born to a magic-less mother and a mage father. they lived quite isolated, with reid's much older half-brother larahndis. larahndis moved quickly due to reid's father's attitude towards him, but reid continued to stay with his parents. reid learned he could use magic the same day his father was taken away and allegedly executed for being a mage. a few years later, reid's mother also passed from a disease and he ended up in the care of his, now adult, half-brother. despite larni's seemingly cold exterior and reid's own stuborness, reid managed to befriend the half-elf and build a stable relationship. after "moving out" of the toxic environment him and larahndis were forced to live in, reid started his wandering, managed to transition to being perceived a male, and his work for his mysterious employer.

aearon
aearon and reid are in a romantic relationship, which started as a purely physical one due to reid's discomfort with emotional intimacy. over time, and with aearon's help, reid begins to feel comfortable with what a romantic relationship entails. they consider eachother close friends as well as partners. hamild
reid bonds with hamild while the dragon teaches him to write and read with ease. in the beginning, reid viewed hamild as a rude but intelligent individual, and thought he only tolerated the elf because he was quiet. reid slowly learned that hamild is a caring and gentle person, when it is appropriate, and grew closer to the dragon. they now see each other as close friends. reid tells the waiter hamild asked for no pickles. neela
reid respects neela for her fighting skills, and has yet to win a sparring match against her (though he has won stealth contests). he finds neela to be quite rash and rough around the edges, so he cannot understand her camaraderie with aearon. neela's protective nature over aearon spooks reid, and he dares not cross her. larahndis
"larry" raised reid in his teenage years, and the elf is eternally grateful to his brother for accepting and trusting him during those times. nowadays, reid likes to visit larry every few months and bring his children increasingly more aggravating trinkets as presents. adahl
as reid's father, adahl used to be reid's entire world during his childhood. after disappearing without trace for several years and coming back, reid learned more about adahl and started blaming him for essentially all that went wrong in the young elf's life. reid is currently trying his best to stop being hostile towards adahl and build a relationship with his father. avis
reid met avis when he first left home and became a wanderer. he naturally looked up to the tiefling because she was older and travelling for longer. reid had an annoying habit to thinking out loud, and avis gave him a journal in order to make him shut up. she only taught him the basics of reading and writing, so the book is hardly understandable. urik
reid met urik in the orc's city tavern and they got on quite well. reid found the citizens "hes boinking the mayor" jokes funny, but abstained from laughing for urik's sake. howveer, reid had no interest in pursuing a relationship with urik, so he left without trace a few weeks later. upon meeting urik years later, he is initially confused as to why urik is upset at him, but eventually understands and apologises for his actions. |
