As a kit, Hayley spent most of her time making mud food out of dirt and worms. Obviously, it tasted disgusting so nobody she offered it to wanted to eat it. At the age of 12, she stole a cookbook and a few ingredients from her parents when they weren't home. Her cooking improved significantly after this (no sh, you were putting worms in the food) so she continued to do so until she accidentally started a fire and had to call her parents. It took a while for her to regain their trust.

After years of doing this, she eventually opened the Mt. Werm Diner. People were a little hesitant to eat there at first, since she was infamously known as the mudcake vendor up until then. It gained traction shortly after that though.

She ended up getting more customers than expected, which meant having to move faster, getting tired faster, and having to drink a helluva lot of coffee. This made it difficult for her to sleep, so she would often stay up until early morning. (note: i don't drink coffee at all so if any of this this is unrealistic i apologise KJFHWHWJF)

At some point, she found an orphaned alien child digging through the trash in the back of her diner, presumably for food. Feeling guilty about leaving them there, she gave them a free kid's meal and they kept coming back for more. Eventually, she decided to adopt them.

Managing the diner AND taking care of a child took a huge toll on Hayley's energy. She couldn't see where she was going and tripped on one of Nugget's dirt and worm containers. It knocked over and opened. When she went to pick it up, two of the worms plunged at her ears. They then made a beeline for Nugget's gummy stash. She would've screamed for a few hours, but luckily Nugget came to help.

The werms turned out to be fairly useful, and helped out with taking orders. They got rewarded with any leftover food lying around the diner.
