Three years ago, Hunter Mendel cloned his twin brother, Valentine. Hunter has always been obsessed with Valentine, so that news isn't really surprising. He's manipulated and tormented dozens of people in hopes of getting Valentine to 'come back to' him. They grew up together and Hunter would often abuse Valentine mentally, physically, and sexually.
V-2 is the clone of Valentine.
But V-2 isn't a perfect clone. At least, not perfect enough, according to Hunter. He has Valentine's dual-colored eyes, yes... but they're reversed. He's just an inch too short and his freckles are all out of place. His voice is different, he's not good enough at all of the things Valentine is good at, and he doesn't cry the same way.
He grew up isolated from most other people in a hidden studio apartment surrounded by vicious dogs, so Hunter and his rules were all that V-2 ever knew.
V-2 was never allowed to speak, because Hunter hated the sound of his voice. He had to constantly keep in contacts, so his eyes were 'correct', and was forced to try and play the violin, since Valentine was a 'prodigy'. He was never allowed to touch anything except what small amount of food Hunter left in his fridge and his own clothing. Most of his time was spent completely alone, and the minimal time spent around Hunter was little more than being abused and then told how he would never be good enough.
Three years later, the scientist that helped Hunter create a clone - Kiyoshi - came and helped V-2 to escape. He brought V-2 to Valentine's family, who has tried to help him adjust to a 'normal' life. But V-2 harbors a deep resentment toward Valentine and refuses to accept that he's 'a person', since he's 'just a clone'.
