Embersong and Squirrelfang had known each other for moons- ever since they were apprentices. They had a litter of two kits known as Icekit and Redkit. It was a truly simple start for the family and one they were proud of. Redkit and Icekit were happy enough youngsters, playing and enjoying life. Even leading into apprenticeship, things were peaceful.
Icepaw eventually told everybody that he wanted to be referred to as a boy which everybody seemed to take well. Squirrelfang, his father, often struggled with it and made snide comments how Icepaw might have been doing this just for attention. It did cause a falling out between father and son, sadly. It didn't help that Squirrelfang died in a tragic predator attack before they could reconcile and Embersong died not long after from unknown reasons. Many say it was due to a broken heart.
Warriorhood was quickly around the corner though with Redpaw being named Redbird and Icefire earning his name of Icefire. Due to his brash mouth, Icefire caught a lot of trouble early on. Even as far as getting into a fight with another cat. But all of that trouble was soon worth it. When recovering in the healer's den, Loonwish had come to see him. The two toms had been friends for some time but it was only then that Icefire caught on that Loonwish liked him. Their courtship was swift and they became mates within a few moons.
Redbird would become sick and retired early. It would only take a few moons for their illness to take over. Despite everything, Icefire has stayed strong with Loonwish at his side. Heck, he even became convinced into having kits with his mate- something nobody expected. Now the proud father of Fennelkit, Rook-kit, Crinklekit, and Meadowkit, he seems to have his life on track for the first time in forever.

- Icefire was pretty stubborn about having kits, wanting to live out freedom for a lot longer. But he secretly admits that he's glad Loonwish pushed them to have the little ones. He's felt like life means a lot more suddenly and considering the reckless life he lived before, it's fitting.
