Crowned Jewel

Crowned Jewel's parents were very powerful, rich unicorns who worked closely with Celestia shortly after Luna was banished to the moon. Jewel was meant to be a student of Celestia from the moment she was a twinkle in her parents' eyes; however, when she was born a pegasus, these hopes were dashed. Given her parents' supposed pure lineage, her birth stirred up a significant amount of gossip, with ponies murmuring about affairs and false pedigrees. Jewel grew up incredibly spoiled, but with an acute awareness that she would never live up to her parents' expectations, as well as the world's eyes on her. She often felt like she wasn't good enough, and set off on her own as soon as she was able. 

Shortly after she began her explorations, Crowned Jewel stumbled upon the secluded camp of a powerful artificer, Count Lucio. They helped her to craft a powerful, horn-like crown that granted her the ability to preform incredible feats of magic. Overjoyed, Jewel returned to Canterlot in an attempt to study under Celestia. The princess turned her away, however, and attempted to confiscate the crown. After an explosive battle that left Celestia almost dead, Crowned Jewel returned to Count Lucio, determined to form her own kingdom and eventually overthrow the princess. Her first subject was a young filly named Hidden Dreams, who had been orphaned and abandoned. Jewel raised her as her own, and as a result is very close with her. 

The crown seems to grant her immortality, or at the very least significantly slows her aging. Though she has long stopped counting, Crowned Jewel is at least a few hundred years old. This immortality seems to also extend to all of her subjects as well.

Jewel is incredibly charming and charismatic, and she excells at public speaking. She is incredibly protective of her subjects.
