Raeburn ☆

The....arguably youthful chittercida found his way onto the mortal plane around the same time as Philomina. Much like their origin, it's highly unknown if the two chitters are actually related by blood. However, due to their mutual ability to feed off joyful emotions, the two paired up in the initial years of their existence. However, unlike Philomina who just fed off the general emotion of 'joy', Raeburn had more specific tastes.

As a result, he is incredibly obnoxious and doesn't know when to stop. This is in fact what got him into hot water, as he accidentally disturbed one of the King's knights and under the assumption he was some kind of demon, they captured him and separated him from Philomina.

Upon realization that he was, in fact, not a demon in the religious sense, the people working for the king had absolutely no idea what to do with the absolutely annoying animal. He was useless for fieldwork (scared away all the peasants, couldn't pull anything to save his life), there was no option to use him in parades, and he was also too annoying to keep around others. So for the time Jerrin's father was in power, Raeburn was kept as the court jester - a really unliked jester.

It wouldn't be until Jerrin's younger brother inherited the throne that he'd be put to some actual use. Jerrin's brother ruled with an iron fist, and developed a secret 'police' squad dedicated to eradicating enemies or potential threats to his kingship. He had noticed Raeburn had an adept sense of smell, though primarily for the purpose of finding the 'emotion' he fed off. As a result he was assigned to be a scout for the small assassin group, often being sent out to track down their target and lead away while his companions 'finished' the job. Raeburn was entirely unaware of this result, he was just excited to play 'hide and seek'.

That is, until the target was Jerrin himself.
