BACKSTORY

As a teenager, Dorothy's one of the popular girls in Cross Town High School.  In fact, she commands a small clique of catgirls, who quickly assert their place near the top of the social food chain.  That's an example she takes from her father; when he's not out of town on a business trip, he's encouraging her to be brash, be confident, and be hungry for more.  Unfortunately, it seems to be a physical law of sorts that, when it comes to high school clout, going up means bringing someone else down.  And for Dorothy, her favorite target happens to be Lyla Brangwyn...

Dorothy mellows out a bit as an adult.  Indeed, she even settles a bit; she pursues a career in journalism, and misses the moon yet lands in the stars.  Her newspaper advice column "Dear Calico" is her own way of turning her love of gossip and ambition into something helpful for the community.  Readers submit questions to her, and her advice tends to center around being observant, opportunistic, and assertive.  Dear Calico is a hit for those seeking advice in love and life, but her financial acumen draws in entrepreneurs and small business owners too.

PERSONALITY

In a word, Dorothy is haughty.  She's got this habit of assuming a sense of smug superiority, especially around strangers.  After all, if folks trust her boasts, then it's much easier to boss them around.  Dorothy loves to be in charge.  It's to the point where, if someone suggests some alternative course of action to her proposal, she takes offense to it as if it were a personal insult.  She's been raised to believe in herself, her opinions, and her ideas...to a fault, some would say.  She gets plenty of practice for her ojou-sama laugh, eventually rivaling that of one of the most powerful businesswomen there is, Anna Lee.

Around those she trusts, though, Dorothy relaxes.  For one, she'll actually admit when she's out of her element.  (Then again, being right about who to delegate things to is its own source of smugness.)  Her pursuit of popularity rarely leaves time for other hobbies.  Instead, she likes living vicariously through the people in her life, whether that's dating a boy on the football team to find out what the fuss is with sports, or providing the getaway car for a prank.  She takes great pride in her appearance, and carefully crafts her image through knowledge of things like makeup and cleaning stains.  Dorothy's also an excellent singer, and frequently appears at karaoke nights and other such events in order to gather more adoring fans.
