marcel (mars for short) is a researcher who lives in cornertown but travels around semi-often. has spent years looking into spinxyn that are 'cursed from birth' and the circumstances that produce them. 

he started on this path because he himself was born with a curse to a couple in savnic city, and while they didn't disown him for it, he became the subject of relentless whispering and rumors. his parents acted like they didn't care, but it was incredibly obvious that it got to them due to their status, and his relationship to them became strained because of it.

savnic offered nothing for him (though the high-class fashion and 'refined' atmosphere did stick with him). at a young age, he ran off with a nomadic harpip group to set out for cornertown after meeting one of the traveling harpips who told him stories of the distant land, and he's been there ever since (aside from his forays into the world with the harpip group who have assisted him with his research). he secretly has many fans despite his unapproachable and somewhat brash personality.
