Cassamea "Cass" Colt was the only child of her parents Claire and Jack, her childhood was a primarily happy one until she was seven years old when her father killed by a demon protecting both her and her mother while they escaped. After that, she and her mother attempted to live normally once again, but it was a short-lived venture for it was not long before the demon found them and made yet another attempt on their lives. Managing to escape, they lived on the road in her mother's red hardtop 1967 Chevy Impala while Cass's mother learned how to become a hunter, something which she was simultaneously teaching Cassamea how to do so that she would be prepared for whatever may lie ahead. It certainly wasn't the best life for a kid, but it was better than no life.

Living the way that they did, Cassamea was constantly on the move and never really formed too many lasting relationships with any of the children her age at the various schools that she attended across the country. Her closest relationship during this time in her life was certainly the one that she had with her mother. Unfortunately, that too came to an end when Cassamea was thirteen years old and came back to the motel that her and her mother were staying at at the time to find that her mother was dead and a distinct warning from the demon was written across the walls of the motel room in her blood.

Though her mother had willed her car to Cassamea, since she was too young, it was put into the care of the conservators that her mother had chosen: her close friends Indiana and Durango Bellisario. Cassamea herself was put into the foster care system, where she struggled to be placed in any lasting foster home due in large part to the fact that many prospective foster families found her desire for vengence upon the demon that killed her parents to be extremely unsettling as well as off-putting. Despite this, she was eventually adopted by a very kind bean who saw through Cassamea's anger, frustration, and sadness to the who she truly was beneath all of it.

Life with this individual was wonderful and Cassamea truly felt that the worst was perhaps finally behind her and that she was safe now. This, alas, was not the case and the demon reared it's ugly head a year later to show her that this happiness she had found and was experiencing was fleeting. Cassamea's new adoptive parent was now also dead and while police strongly believed it was the work of a serial killer obsessed with Cassamea -she knew differently.

Cassamea found herself once more in the foster care system and while there she met a young boy named Lucifer who also had a tough time finding a home, though it was mainly because he was continuously running away from the foster homes that he got placed in. Cass formed a rather close bond with Lucifer and came to consider him like the little brother she never had.
