Kan is your typical socially awkward genius, whose intelligence can get them far in everything except for making friends. Their arrogance and confidence tend to make people keep their distance and more often than not, encounters with Kan will leave a bad first impression. However, get past the borderline-rude, straightforward attitude of theirs, and you're met with someone who is easily lonely and eager to make friends. Kan is just unsure how.

Kan can come off as a little mean, condescending, and at times, sarcastic, but in reality, they don't mean any ill will in their words. Kan is bad at verbally communicating and thinks that being direct is best (even if it means offending others or stepping on toes). Those who stick around long enough will find that Kan can be observant, kind, and thoughtful. In cases of those close to Kan, Kan is also known to be very, very physically affectionate. Physical touch is their love language.

Kan was born with a weak heart, among several other health complications: asthma, allergies, anemia, you name it. Their parents were told that it' a miracle that Kan survived birth, and while the happy ending to that would have been that Kan grew up to be a healthy child, life doesn't work like that. Kan spent a lot of their childhood at home or at the hospital since going to school posed too much of a risk; which is the explanation for Kan's lack of socialization to those around their age group. Where Kan lacked in health, they made up in intelligence. Without many opportunities to make friends in their youth, Kan often turned to books and their parents found out very quickly that Kan aborbed knowledge like a sponge. From there, the stone kept rolling and Kan went through an accelerated educational career before graduating at their first PhD in chemistry at the age of 14. More degrees to follow in several other STEM fields.

That's not to say that Kan's parents did not try to help them socialize. Kan is naturally a curious person who loves to learn new skills, and so their parents had signed them up for several extacirrcular activities. One of Kan's favorite was choir, where they met their best friend and future pop idol, Lon. Another was photography and design, which sparked Kan's love and interest in fashion. But despite the attempts to socialize Kan, their peers were not too fond of Kan's condescending attitude and so ultimately, Kan has enough friends to count on one hand. It's actually a miracle that Kan was able to score themself a boyfriend, whom they met when they were a guest speaker at their current partner's college.

Kan started the Watch Dogs Agency after a supernatural encounter with a nekomata that left them with a 6th sense ability (and a strange change in appearance when using said sense). By no means can Kan suddenly see the paranormal and supernatural, but they can strongly sense paranormal presence. The supernatural is beyond scientific comprehension and thus Kan's interest in connecting the two sparked. They believe the best means to do so is through forensics, seeing how death and negative situations seem to be the strongest connect between the scientific world that Kan knows and a world beyond. So Kan first started the Watch Dogs Agency as a personal project, but it was quickly noticed by the government for the useful results that came from Kan's investigation. At first it was a small scale, one man project, but after high volume of request for contracted work, Kan decided to expand the agency. The group itself is still small, but holds large influence in the investigative scene.

Currently, the Watch Dogs Agency is contracted with the government for top secret investigations, but is still available for smaller private contracted works (as long as the other party is reputatble; either by invitation or approval by any of the Watch Dogs members).
