I Met Her
Oh, Artemis. Mi amour. I was twenty one tending the bar serving drinks and fighting off drunk men hitting on me. I wasn't looking for love but I guess love finds you. I remember it was a cool autumn night and we only had a few hours until closing. I was the only one working that night. I went out for a quick smoke break and the sky was beautiful. The stars were twinkling and the moon was full and shining as bright as the sun. Not a single cloud was in the sky. Absolutely stunning. I don't think I even got a chance to smoke, I was admiring the night sky.
I concluded my smoke break to return inside only to find more skeevy men trying to take me out and making a pass at me. I was mindlessly serving them their drinks and rejecting their advances when I noticed her walk through the door. She was sporting this brown leather jacket with a light wool lining inside and tight faded blue jeans. Her eyes were as bright as the moon that night. They were this beautiful shade of milky blue with a small sparkle in each of them. I couldn't help but stare. She sauntered up to the bar and sat down right in front of me. She smiled slyly and ordered her drink. A Long Island Iced Tea with an extra slice of lemon. I remember she was talking to me but I didn't hear a word she was saying, I was too lost in her eyes to pay attention to anything else. That was until a drunk man started screaming at me for ignoring him. I admit, I wasn't paying attention to the other patrons. I quickly apologized to Artemis and returned to work. She just smiled at me and continued sipping on her drink. After I had finished tending to other customers I had noticed she was gone. There was money on the counter alongside a piece of paper and an empty glass. "Thanks for the drink. Enjoy the tip. Call me sometime?" I pocketed the money and the paper and soon closed the bar for the night. I went home and mulled over the paper for hours before finally falling asleep. It took me days to finally call her. Her voice was so sweet I felt lost when talking to her. We set up a date and the rest was history. It wasn't until a couple of years of being together until I really opened up to her though ...

Notes
- Artemis didn't learn about my powers for a couple of years.
- I never told Artemis about Miguel at this point, despite still wearing my wedding ring.
- I quickly learned about Artemis' blindness when she never looked into my eyes and walked into things.
- I never saw her at the bar again besides that one time.
