Astonish

"Wait, me? You want me to save the world? ...god, or whatever is up there, why."

Astonish is a young orphan boy that lives in the streets with his brother, Bewilder. He’s quick to anger, impatient, and naïve. But he will always do what’s right, even if it puts him in danger. He adores his brother; they’re the best of friends.

He is one of two main characters of this story. His magic allows him to see spirits and ghosts, but he cannot hear them. Instead, he communicates with sign language and other forms of visual speech.

One strange and overall awful day, he meets Stranger, an Alkar spirit claiming to be from the future, and learns that the world is doomed if the current war rages on any longer. The Stranger tells him about a group of brave souls he saw in another future, Astonish included, that work together to stop the war and save the world. He tells him that he must find an Aurusalkar with vibrant emerald horns and a coat of white.

Astonish happens upon a young girl named Miyuji who...somewhat fits this description, albeit with many spots and stripes thrown into the mix. Hopefully she's the right one? 'Close enough' should work with these things, right...?
