Brian knows there's something going on, right underneath the surface of this whole thing. He's used to being called an idiot, or insane, so much so that he hardly sees them as insults anymore. He sees them as people proving him right. Brian once wanted to work for the government, but he dropped that dream when he turned 16, as something happened, causing him to lose trust in pretty much everything. He doesn't say what it was, and when asked about it he gets uncharacteristically quiet. Mentioning even just the number 16 will shut him down. He refuses to touch anything that has anything to do with the number 16, going as far as to count everything out just to make sure it doesn't come to it.
Brian knows pretty much everything about everyone. He has journals, stacked up high of all his observations. He knows who's dating who, who entered the town, who left it. He knows all the drama, gossip, and bickering that goes on around him. But why? Well, Brian is 100% certain that there's people around him who aren't who they say they are. Aliens, criminals, he doesn't know what they are, but he knows that they aren't good. He keeps tabs on everyone to look for any anomalies, people out a bit too late, fights between friends, anything. He's got string boards all over his wall, newspaper clippings dating back to the twenties, everything.
But who does he talk to about this? Believe it or not, Brian doesn't actually have any friends. He either scares them away with his obsessive watching, or they get annoyed with his egotistical "I know what I'm talking about" personality. So, he talks to his CB radio on CB channel 06. He'll go off for hours about his findings, not caring if anyone's listening. He never gets any responses, but he's certainly entertaining to listen to if you find him on accident.
In all honesty though, Brian is just terrified. The world outside his home scares him so much, he just wants a way to justify his fear. If everything's coming to get him, then it makes sense that he's terrified. Then it's not a him thing, it's an everyone else thing. He can be sweet when he wants to be, and he does try to be nice to most people.
