Personality

Hayate is the strong, silent type, though there is also a gentleness to him. Calm, yet fierce in battle. He rarely openly stresses about things, keeping his feelngs bottled up so they gnaw away at him. He is polite, even to those who are rude to him. Though, the moment someone is rude to his brother, he is likely threatening the agressor's life or throwing them out.

Description

Average, at 5'9". He has a lean, athletic build with a tanned complexion, and long black hair that ends at mid-back (he normally keeps it pulled back, with some loose in the front). He has dark brown eyes that look black until light hits them. He has a large scar across his chest and a smaller one on his right pectoral just below the shoulder.

He typically wears kimono, though he will wear yukata in the summer or when just relaxing. On his feet, he wears geta or zori, sometimes he goes around barefoot.

Background

Hayate is from Katsurou, which is north east of the Adalsteinn Mountains, situated on the Akane Sea. There is a village on the coast with a large fortress in the water that can only be accessed by ship. The people of Katsurou worship the sea god, Zethar.

Hayate is the first born son of the rulers of Katsurou and the next in line to be emperor. Growing up, his parents had little hand in raising him, leaving it to servants and tutors. He was raised with a strong sense of duty towards his parents and kingdom, though he has never figured out if his parents actually care about him or just having an heir. It wasn't until his brother, Hotaru, was born that Hayate felt like he had any family. Despite their parents best efforts to keep the two separated, Hotaru being "lesser" in their eyes, the brothers always found ways to spend time together. Hayate would usually sneak into Hotaru's room to bring him snacks, specifically the squid he seemed to like that the older brother couldn't stand. During those times, Hayate would teach Hotaru whatever he had been taught that day, which is the only reason the younger prince has any sort of education. It is also the reason both brothers have horrid penmanship, as Hotaru copied Hayate's. Even as adults, the two are still very close and try to spend as much time as they can together. Though, that is difficult with Hayate always been sent off to conquer something at their father's whim.

It was during one of those whims that Hayate met Drayce. The prince was gravely wounded in battle, slashed across the chest with a halberd then pinned to the ground with it, and the dragon just happened to fly over at the right time. Drayce had every intention to mind his own business, but he couldn't help but be intrigued by how the definitely sure to die prince kept trying to fight. So, he did what any dashing hero would do, swoop down and save maiden fair. Except, Hayate wasn't a maiden and Drayce didn't exactly swoop...he landed, killing a man beneath his foot then took on his human form and killed the rest with his sword. By the time he was done, Hayate had passed out and when the prince woke he truly believed that the dragon was a dream, until Drayce transformed and proved otherwise with a smug grin on his face. The two have become practically inseparable since, Drayce the only person aside from Hotaru that Hayate completely trusts.
