Maliphagos used to be quite the aggressive demon. Back many, many years ago, he used to be a terrifyingly strong demon, if not *the* strongest demon. While he still is powerful, the man has mellowed out quite a bit.

There was a time where he lend his services to warring nations with the only payment he wanted was freedom to more or less slaughter those he wanted and lead the nations armies. He had quite the reputation of never losing his wars, which made people hire and lend his services, despite the man's unstable mind. Back then he was known as General Malice and the name was not only tainted with terror, but also respect from a lot of people. If you were willing to sacrifice anything for your goal, then Maliphagos was the guy to have on your side. Maliphagos' favorite way of tearing people down was surprisingly not physical, as much as he adored the pain it brought - instead he used his powers of being a greater demon, to eat of people's negativity. With the ability to look into other beings and find the things that weighed them down, he took it for himself and in the process had them relive every moment he took. Being that many of them were soldiers who had to not only face, but take tough decisions in their life, it was nothing short of a feast to consume their agony and make them re-experience every moment of dispair. In fact, he had for habit to do so until they were left mere husks, haunted by their fear, sadness and guilt. For a being that craved nothing but the world to be in utter chaos, this was a way of living that Maliphagos very much took pleasure from. The terror of others only seemed to make him grow stronger, made the limits dissapear and let him do as he wanted. And he did so. Nothing was in his way, nothing could possibly stop him-

Or so he had thought. One day Maliphagos came across a sickly man in a monastery that he was destroying. To his dismay, there was nothing to take from the man. It was like the man had no sorrow he could dig into properly, no guilt, no deep regrets. Maliphagos had never seen anything quite like him, and it filled wiht him a deep satisfaction that he simply could not put aside. A being so close to death, looking so frail in his bed, was defying everything Maliphagos thought he knew about others. It made no sense and Maliphagos was certainly not having it. Unable to take this defeat, he spend time to get to know the man, sure that with time he could root a deep despair or something alike. But th emore he got to know him, the more it just seemed like the man was ridiculously at peace with himself. As if he had accepted and didn't fear the mistakes he had made in the past. Eager to get his fingers under the mans skin, Maliphagos continued to visit him and despite their morals and world-views being so different, the sickly man seemed not to mind too much Maliphagos' presence. Time passed and while Maliphagos never aged, his new subject of curiosity and annoyance did. Maliphagos irritation dulled and instead it became a confusion and intruige at how someone could see the world so wrong and be okay with it. When the sickly man succumbed to his sickness, Maliphagos found himself at a loss. He was still not satisfied, but it felt as though another hole had made it's home in his very being. The man was gone, yet there was no victory, he hadn't won any battle. For while the man had died, Maliphagos had never managed to get what he wanted; watching the other suffer and admit to his idea of how the world wrked. He couldn't put his finger quite on the feeling that he'd later learn was care. Something clicked inside Maliphagos' head. Perhaps it wasn't as cut and dry as he had initially imagined. With a want to understand the emptyness left behind, Maliphagos laid off with his prior destruction and instead pondered.

That was long ago, and though Maliphagos doesn't talk too much about his past, especially his years of being in war, he likes to reminiscent a lot on his journey to becoming a minister of a monastery. He found a better use of his powers, in which he can help people walk through their own inner struggles and come to terms with it. Letting people chose when they are ready to discuss past trauma or concerns and only doing so in smaller portions turned out to help out quite a bit of people and healtily lift off their negative thoughts. He wasn't sure exactly when sympathy and care really grew on him, but alas he has welcomed it and feels a deep satisfaction of being of help to others.
