Profile

General Info

McKinley is what happens when you fuse Ushanka Dog and Thennakarsis together, and then add a sprinkle of Skaldeleth on top. And maybe Rin as well due to her semi-mysterious origins.

Due to the situation she's in, McKinley usually keeps to herself to not cause a scene, which works out as everyone else is too intimidated by her to start shit. That being said, she often bullies the weaker residents of her town (like Alex) just for kicks. Gotta do something negative, I suppose.

Her voice is rather plain, yet powerful at the same time. If she talked to you, you'd probably stop in your tracks and do anything she requests, even if it resulted in your demise. Despite growing up with the Northmen in eastern Russia, she doesn't have an accent; she forced herself to lose it after leaving for Eagle Pine.

Backstory

A long time ago, in another universe, a being of an unknown name and form got very powerful and started to destroy random planets just for fun. This quickly caught the attention of the universe's Maldedrom (or similar equivalent), and the two would end up fighting each other. To cut a long and bloody fight short, the being won. She killed the Maldedrom-equivalent, stole all of her power, and used it to completely wipe out the universe she came from. But she wasn't satisfied with this victory. After casing and destroying a few weaker universes, she set her sights on one that could actually give her a challenge: ours.

(Well, 'ours' as in the one I constantly write about here.)

However, the being lost most of her stored power due to the sheer energy cost of traveling between universes. Because of this, she had to pick a weaker planet to destroy in order to regain some of her lost power, and this planet was 2,984 BC Earth. And so, she crash-landed into the Mesopotamia region and, after casing the region for 20-odd years like her previous universes, began to try and lay waste to Earth. This time, however, the being was unable to get very far in her quest to destroy Earth.

Before it was destroyed, the previous universe had secretly warned the Maldedrom about what was going to happen. The goddess didn't want to fight the being herself and risk losing the universe, so she decided to gather up some locals and train them in the ways of magic. After their training, the 'drom sent the wizards out into the world to hunt down and stop the being in one way or another. Another fight ensued and, thankfully, the wizards won. Despite the being's incredible power, they managed to seal her away and, to prevent her from potentially appearing on another planet out of their reach, bound her to Earth.

Due to the power problem, however, the wizards didn't do a perfect job. Every 150 or so years since their death, the being is able to escape from her imprisonment and into the world with a new body and identity. Unfortunately for her, though, the wizards had planned ahead for this. Her body always happens to be some sort of anthro canine, which makes her really distinct and easy for the wizards' descendants to find and kill. (Sure, she could hide in the woods and disguise herself as a wild dog, but that'd be boring for her.)

Despite this setback, she always manages to cause some destruction to Earth before being killed and sealed away again. Whether it's through eliminating entire empires, sinking islands, or even killing somebody important, it's destruction to her, and that's good enough. For almost all of her returns, the descendants were able to stop her without many problems. That was, until her recent reincarnation as McKinley.

You see, the reincarnation happened well after the creation of the Northmen - you know, the anthros that Tori and Snezana are a part of. This is a problem. In addition, the being had become wiser to the methods and techniques that the descendants used to seal her away. As a result, a good chunk of the descendants died in the last three fights against the being. Because of these small setbacks, it has become almost impossible for the descendants to properly find and kill McKinley.

As for the actual reincarnation herself, there isn't a whole lot to cover as she's trying to make herself as generic as possible. McKinley grew up with the Northmen and joined their army for a while, in order to keep hidden and protect herself from the descendants. Because McKinley wasn't tied to any of Invictus' members, she never joined the cult and was allowed to live a normal-ish life. As a result, she knew very little about the group, and even less about what Gun'harand's plans were. (The same is true for most of the Northmen, actually.) .

After being discharged from the army, she moved to Eagle Pine (the town that Alex happens to live in) as it's secluded, rather small, and close enough to one of Earth's major spaceports. There, she patiently waits for the snowstorms to end before trying to destroy the world again, but is getting rather impatient about it…

Fun Facts

  • You would think that the wizards would be able to easily find McKinley due to her giant stature. But you'd be wrong, actually. Northmen vary greatly in height, with smaller animals being in the mid-high 4' range, and the largest ones being somewhere in the 8-9' range. While rather uncommon, it is possible for a medium-large animal to be over 8 feet tall, such as dogs and wolves.
  • Because she is so secretive about her current personal life, nobody really knows about McKinley's hobbies and skills (or even her job) apart from a few stints as a mechanic or stage technician.
    • Maybe if you befriended her, she'd tell you all about those. But she's more likely to bully you or use you as a tool to further her own plans, so perhaps don't?
  • There are very, very few things that McKinley likes about the universe she's trapped in. One of these things is pizza - for some reason, the universes she 'visited' never had them.
    • But whenever she remembers this, she also remembers that she first experienced chicken & waffles here as well, and gets really mad as a result.
  • She doesn't like any of the animals that live on Earth. The ones she might've liked were wiped out millions of years ago.
  • She is a connoisseur of obscure/messed-up/esoteric bands, movies, and games. In other words, don't let her pick the movies for movie night, because she'll choose Begotten or something like that.
    • On a similar note, almost all of the tops she wears are band merch. I prefer not to draw them in full as I'm slightly crap at coming up with fake bands + their merch.
  • To tell you the truth, she isn't a real big fan of dark colors. They remind her of the times she had to travel between universes, which was really boring. But she kind of has to wear them to fit her aesthetic.
  • So if McKinley likes that many things about our universe, why would she still want to destroy it? She does have a pretty good answer and solution to that question, but she'd never tell anyone about this, even if they somehow became her friend.
