Ideas of History and Tribe:

For Edukka's species I picture their culture to be a bit more primitive but still adapting to modern times. Trying to blend their culture with the world around them. I sort of want to add them to a type of d&d campaign so a type of medieval times where they have steel weapons and literature.  [This is a WIP but its a type of notes for now.]

Traditions:

~Males and Females will hold a contest every breeding season to determine rank and status. Your are not born into your status but instead earn it through trials of combat. In these trials to help prevent death they are only allowed to use their claws and strength like their ancestors did. Biting is allowed as long as it is not a throat bite or other major artery. However, your allowed to weaken your opponent with blood loss. Though lower and mid ranking males tend to not bleed out their opponents out of courtesy. [Biting only causes the other one to bite you.] It's only really seen near the ending of the trials with the strongest and most ferocious of males. They will call a victor before death however it still happens. Normally blood crazed they have to be pulled apart and held down.

Since these determine rank and status you will see tribe leadership challenges of the leader last year. Normally held in his own area or terrain of choosing. Other males may try their hands at the crown. Normally males get very worked up during this season so leadership challenges have severe injuries and can lead to death.

Males will compete for the best females while females also try to attract the best males. However it is not set in stone the best breed with the best. A high ranking male may choose a lower ranking female. It depends on the personality. Females are less likely to cause death among themselves but if a female stakes a claim on a certain male. They will fight more ferociously in hopes of keeping others away.

As a side note, it happens occasionally but if a male keeps choosing the same partner. The female will become more prized among others. The highest ranking males tend to keep the same mates thus causing lots of envy and squabbling. It happens among other rank tiers and causes a lot of tier fighting. [In another sense, it is seen as a loyalty to their partner. Females do also choose the same males etc. IT can also be a culture thing. Some family unites can be aggressive to each other while other adopt a more loving relationship. The tribe will eventually abolish this practice but will keep the trial of combat as more a fun tradition. They are not incapable of growth but still believe in the old ways. So it will be more for people who do not want to be apart of the trials can choose to not participate. That stuff comes later but for now they are a vicious fighting culture.]

~Males can have as many mates as they can take care of. It's not odd to see a male with 2 or 3 mates. It is however forbidden to use lesser females as "sex slaves". You can't open a brothel with your lesser mates.

~It is not uncommon to see their species with scars and fresh wounds. Their culture still holds onto it's animalistic traits. Females and males fight all the time in micro squabbles but a fiercely loyal to their partners.
