"YOOOOO! Twas’ is me, the Ultimate Time Lord, Hideyoshi Yumizaki Kenego Kagutooooo! Bring me some booze, some video games and I can tell you all about the wonders of time and space!"
―Hideyoshi Yumizaki Kenego Kaguto

The records of the Ultimate Time Researcher are scattered from January of 2039 all the way to the year of 2047 due to minor inputs in other achievements, the name officially appearing in the newspaper of March 16th 20147, as the ‘New World Ultimate Program’ announced their new scout - Hideyoshi Yumizaki Kenego Kaguto. Due to him being a researcher in the ‘Time and Space Research Centre of Shun Kita’, there’s limited information on him outside of his achievements with the other researchers or what people published online after encountering him outside of his facility - which range from people saying he’s quirky, eccentric or straight off insane.

But who is he really? How does he behave? Who knows...

Appearance

Hideyoshi is a healthy-looking adult of 22 with a height of 5’11” and a weight of 171bs. Surprisingly - or not, if one knows of his upbringing - his visible skin is very pale, to a dangerous degree, however he ensures that it’s simply because he hasn't seen the sun of the day for twenty-so years… Which is still rather concerning. Regardless of it, he has short, tidy hair of black that doesn’t go further than his head. To that, he has a pair of shining, emerald-like eyes that often wink whenever he sees anyone that catches his eye~

His body-type is a typical one, although he does have quite a bit of muscle hidden underneath his attire due to him working out in his free time although… Despite his personality, he doesn’t really flex them to impress the ladies(and menies… Medies?), weirdly enough, but he has better things to impress everyone with; like his personality!

Hideyoshi’s attire can be described with one word: “Steampunk-like”. His entire attire - minus his suit - is made from quality leather and metal of brown hues. His hat bears a logo of his laboratory on a metal plaque(which is a hollow diamond shape with a star inside of it) along with stars and dots covering the left-side of the hat’s roof.

Down from it, Hideyoshi wears a fancy-looking suit with a black bowtie decorating his long sleeved shirt and a black vest to it, along with the same tone trousers and shoes. Sadly, his full suit is not on display due to his enormous coat that nearly reaches the ground and a big stand-up collar. The coat is filled with pockets that store small trinkets such as nails, candy, screws and the like while also being decorated with multiple shades of brown and gears, adding to his timey and steampunk style. On both of his hands, he also wears black gloves that were made specifically for him, which also have gears on top of them as decoration.

Lastly, he wears a bag that’s filled with… A lot of things usually; ranging from vials, notes, food to a life-sized Mhjonir, he often has anything anyone would need in it under normal circumstances… Kinda weird but hey, if women can have endless bags, why can’t he?

Personality

Despite not looking like it, Hideyoshi does enjoy sports and exercising, nearly as much as he enjoys time researching, which is why in his free time he would either run around or try to perform some push-ups. His favourite sports include anything that would require him hitting the hell out of his enemy for the simple reason of ‘asserting his dominance’ or ‘beating some rubbish mentality into submission’. Due to his interest in such sports, he gained some experience in fighting and self-defence - which he isn’t afraid to use in order to protect someone or himself even if he claims to be a pacifist;

Hideyoshi might not look like a tolerable person the first you look at him, but he can accept a lot of things that others might be unable to accept - with an exception of few things like sexism, racism and other things of that nature, but even then he tries to understand the reasoning behind their beliefs. Other things like there were multiple Gods, Earth being flat or phone radiation causing cancer, as long at they don’t shove their ideas down his throat, he will pay no mind to them, even if they are sputtering utter bullshit.

If spending his time in a research facility taught him something, it is that being clean is a key. The number of times he saw some researchers spending literal days without a shower or a break just disgusted him - he was amazed and respected them for their dedication, but there’s always time for a shower and an eight-hour sleep - which caused him to grow minimal prejudice toward anyone who doesn’t care about their welfare and would prefer to be bathed in lava instead of water without a good reason for it. Otherwise, if it’s a one time slip up, he will probably just joke about it with ‘Do you need a shower in a can?’ type of texts.

Whoever would encounter a wild Hideyoshi would immediately describe him as ‘eccentric’ and ‘weird’, as he would often try to flirt with any female - or male - nearby for nothing more than a laugh(presuming they are around his age, as he won’t flirt with those who are too young). Some suggest is because of he was closed off from normal society for so long he doesn’t know how to behave while others just think he was born that way; who’s right? No one except Hideyoshi knows. But regardless of what caused his unusual behaviour, he still doesn’t fail to get his own set of fans that enjoy his weird sayings or actions;

And yet another thing that everyone who rose him taught him is the value of working hard. From the young age, he was taught that there’s nothing better than a pure satisfaction of finding something out all by himself, or in a group, via hard work and cooperation - nothing better than finding out something might help the future generations too. As his mother followed a mantra of ‘There’s no cake without a baker’, he too follows this simple saying when feeling like giving up on a project that could possibly change the lives of others;

Despite Hideyoshi being organized and can work if he sets his mind to it, picking what he should work on is the hardest part, as he deems all research important and doesn’t know how to rate anything from most important to least important. This wasn’t much of a problem at the beginning, as he would just ask some of his colleagues for help in deciding, but as he grew older, he started to receive more cold shoulders for the only reason of them wanting him to ‘grow up’, as there’s a high possibility that those from outside of the research centre wouldn’t be so willing to help him;

Once again, quite a contrary trait but yes, if Hideyoshi would be hit with a big wave of procrastination, he can become the biggest couch potato you have ever witnessed. Luckily, such phases are rare, but it is hard for him to get off them with no output of someone that wasn’t hit by the annual laziness, as he suddenly has the urge to replay the whole Persona 3 from the beginning or catch every Pokemon for his Pokedex;

Another thing that working in a research facility taught him is that if you are not organized, you are likely to lose your ideas and/or they would be stolen from you by a fellow researcher for a joke. Even if most of the works were returned to their creators, and that stealing minor researches within the Taimurisāchā Centre walls was only done in order to spice things up, there’s no harm in keeping a workplace clean and organized for the ease of working, and to maximise the efficiency of it.

And yet, despite his enjoyment of fighting sports where the main objective is to knock someone off his feet, Hideyoshi is a pacifist 90% of the time. This might be seen as contradictory, but he explains that it isn’t due to the sports having rules to prevent serious injuries while the real fighting has no rules to it. There’s also healthy violence and unhealthy violence(Healthy violence meaning that the people fighting are doing it to relieve stress and avoid real violence, and not mainly to hurt their opponent) - meaning that as long as both parties consented to it and won’t hold ill if something happens, it is alright in Hideyoshi’s eyes.

Simply being interested in how different humans think, Hideyoshi developed the love of puzzles due to it being an interesting way of seeing how different people will approach it and how they will solve it. The number of times he got an unexpected result just because the person couldn’t solve a simple riddle still amazes him, and even if he’s not doing this to learn more about the person, he still enjoys throwing puzzles everywhere and accepting any sort of payment for a hint.

Creation Origins

Hideyoshi's first official appearance was in January of 2019, when his ref was posted on a server as I was looking for names - however, he was a thing before as initially, his design was a face claim of Atori Haruto and was the Ultimate Spy. I scrapped that idea though, and gave it another one of my OCs, as Hideyoshi became a Time Lord with a dreamselfy design.

At the time, I was only known for roleplaying girls and kid-like characters, which is why I decided to go for something different, which is why I made Hideyoshi 23(19 at the beginning) and someone with a much more extensive personality than 'they are very nice!'. The idea behind Hideyoshi was, in nutshell, to make someone smart and that should be respected due to his achivements but can still be talked to as if he was your average bloke from the street. This is why I made him eccentric, social butterfly and just a lad to be around. He's also one of the charcaters that will get on with anyone, or at least will try to. He'd also is supsoed to be the big brother/dad of the group, being there for others and making sure everyone is alright.

His main inspirations were from Ace Attorney characters, more specifically Raymond Shields from Investigations 2, Datz Are'bal from Spirit of Justice and Sherlock Holmes from Dai Gyakuten Saiban along with Yato from Noragami. I have a soft spot for funny and eccentric dudes that can kick ass if needed. Ironically, despite him being a Time Lord and even owning an owl called Dr Whoo, I wasn't inspired by the Dr Who show, as I never even seen it - I was more of Sarah Jane Smith person at the time. Designwise, I wasn't really inspired by anything and simply picked what looked nice in dreamselfy, though I did want something formal and eye-catching at the same time; this is why he wears a full on suit underneath his steampunk attire.

After few rewrites, as of now, I am proud of him: he makes great dynamics wherever he ends up being and he's such a joy to write as both when interacting and in chatrooms. With him, I can turn off my brain and just do whatever I want, ranging from having a serious talk about life and death to just screaming on top of a climbing wall to even icing on his shoes as if he's from 'Yuri on Ice' - he's just a dude that wants to get the most out of life, and I love it.

Roleplay Experiences

Fallen Morales 3

Fallen Morales 3 was the first roleplay Hideyoshi appeared in, and it was a somewhat fantasy-like killing game with teleportation and lore that was built up from two revious installements. Having befriended few people there - while also scaring one person to grave due to suddenly teleporting out and into his Ultimate Lab - the motive was announced: a stravation motive meaning that after some time, there won't be anymore food and drink for everyone to survive. Due to that, tension arised but Hideyoshi stayed hopeful.

That was until some time after, as he finally managed to get the Time Machine in his lab to work and used it in hopes of being able to somehow help others. Instead, he saw the end of everything that he loved, which left him in such a distraught state that he simply excused himself as he and one of his acquiantances teleported out of the lab, causing him to leave for the nearby forest, just to hide away to drink his sorrows away. However, he wasn't alone there, and in a stroke of bad luck, a fellow Ultimate stabbed him in the eye in a panicked state. While his attacker wanted to bring him to the camp in order to treat him, Hideyoshi refused due to not wanting to live anymore, which simply caused the two of them to talk for a bit, as Hideyoshi was slowly bleeding out from his eye, eventually dying while slumped against a tree.

Hideyoshi became Chapter 1 Victim, mostly due to ooc factors and his murder... Could have been better - it didn't fit with his character the best, but it was decent. I wasn't happy with the run that he got there(nor how he was written up there) but I still had enough fun to not want to erase him out of existance.

Cavern of Echoes

CoE was the second roleplay that Hideyoshi appeared at and had the best of time at. It was after he died in FM3, and I enjoyed him too much to not app him there, especialyl since the deadline was fast approaching and I wouldn't have been able to write a new app due to being on the camp; so, I copied his app from FM3 to COE and submitted it, getting in with others.

Waking up in a cave, the game was announced as per normal(by the masocts of spider and bat), however this time, he was able to interact with much more people and create a lot of new friends ranging from a stoic crime boss, loud FBI agent, a casual Policewoman, an albino Sukeban and a positive '???'. He also became a servant to a certain someone, but lost that role as of Chapter 2, due to him not siding with her at the time. Regardless, he was the one that tried to make everyone get along by creating game nights - with the famous 'Undertale Voice Acting' session which produced this gem https://objection.lol/objection/567320 - and trying to be of help when needed. It didn't go as expected always, however most people appraciated his company.

The motive for chapter 1 were secrets, with everyone getting one secret and two lies on everyone, and it was up to everyone to guess which one was true and which one wasn't. At the end, one of Hideyoshi's acquiantances killed a mute girl, and was promptly executed after the trial, which caused Hideyoshi to go into a shock due to how gruesome it was. However, life continued as another area opened up, this time being a wintery heaven with a snow owl and polar bear as mascots. He spent some time there investgating and pushing a heavy and cold as hell ice statue for one of the mascots, helping people with solving one of the puzzles that way while also being a witness to FBI mourning sans due to a random skeleton lying on the ground - needless to say, the atmosphere was as chill as ice.

With the second motive being the decreasing temperature, it was either two lives or everyone dying. Sadly, no one killed due to the roleplay being cancelled due to ooc factors, as it was decided that the remaining survivors managed to escape the killing game.

COE was the first time I managed to show most of the sides of Hideyoshi and I had a lot of fun intearcting with people there, either shitposting or being a living comedic relief. My plans were for him to sacrifice himself in order to save someone close to him, however due to the roleplay being cancelled, he survived. I really enjoyed his run there, and that run was one of the better runs he had, even with my experience being lacking at the time.

Graveyard of Dreams

Graveyard of Dreams was a FCFS server that me and my friends joined in order to have something to do in meantime while waiting for other roleplays. However, due to what was happening in the sandbox and the atmosphere being less than welcoming, all of us left before it began. Nothing much happened other than a lot of unwelcome chaos and Hideyoshi did not have any time to shine at all there.

Despair in Chambers

Similarly to GoD, DiC was a FCFS server that we joined after GoD and it had a nice and welcoming atmosphere. The roleplay started and the first motive was Russian Roulette but with close ones. However, due to inactivity and disorganization, the roleplay was cancelled though the mods did make a new one for those who were still interested in participating; once more, Hideyoshi didn't develop any important relationships or did anythign important there.

The Re-Employment Project

A unique take on Killing Game concept where instead of being forced to kill each other, the cast had to work together to prevent each other from dying in order to prove that they are no longer under the influence of Despair and are able to reconnect with the world. There has been two trials of that sort, where no one died from Hideyoshi's team. Sadly, due to the mods getting busy and me having troubles due to college and COVID hitting hard, I had to leave after the roeplay was paused for few weeks. Sadly, Hideyoshi didn't develop any meaningful relationships there.

The Danganronpa Dungeon

In difference to all of his previous apperances, in The Danganronpa Dungeon, Hideyoshi appeared as a plot role in a way; after some discussion on the mod team, as an NPC, he asked one of the people inside of the game - Cassidy - to help him break everyone out from the killing game, as he was investigating the case himself due to personal reasons. He helped out Cassidy in any way he could by either smuggling in parts, information and the like with Dr Whoo or reassure his family that he's alright. At the end of Chapter 3, Hideyoshi and Cassidy finally managed to get a good plan to get everyone out, however it was interrupted by the White Hoods.

He was then discovered in Chapter 4 in the new area, where he and Cassidy 'spoke' about the plan and what they knew. He continued helping out the cast and investigating throughout the RP, only to end up escaping with the loved ones in order to ensure that they are safe and sound near the big climax. He survived, although he was in a bad shape due to personal reasons, and managed to get back to where the castle was few hours before they escaped. The Danganronpa Dungeon was the only RP that Hideyoshi was canon in that ended ic and didn't die.

Cyber Disaster

He has not done anything of importance in that roleplay, before being killed in Chapter two by my other OC in order to end the horrible motive and feeling he did not deserve to be there due to guilt.

Relationships

90

Yamato Yuuto

Hideyoshi's 'older brother' that's five years older than him; he was the first person he befirended in the laboratory as they spent all of their time together due to being the only kids around, soon with Ai and Hana joining them. They often play-fought each other at youth and still keep contact with each other even if Yuuto left the labouratory in order to travel around the world. From time to time, they meet up in Japan in order to talk over stories that they managed to gather, along with a small drink or two.

90

Ai Mio

Hideyoshi's 'younger sister' who's 2 years younger than him; just like with Yamato, the two of them became greatest of friends due to lack of other kids around. Ai was always the calm and more serious one out of bunch, as she even became Hideyoshi's assitant after he became an official Time Researcher and is always there for him - whatever happened. With her being the only proper friend left in the lab since their youth, he grew rather over-protective of her, although after a while he started developing feelings for her.

90

Hikaru Kuroda

An older Time Researcher that specializes in Biological and Chemical Time that he got acquainted with by his father, who he worked with at the time. Over the time, the two of them grew beyond the business relationship and became sort of pals, despite Hikaru not really liking how eccentric and open Hideyoshi was at times while Hideyoshi didn't like how strict and serious Hikaru could be at times; however, opposites attract, no?

Trivia

  • Hideyoshi was initially an Ultimate Spy, however I changed my mind when someone told me he looks like Dr Who in his early phases;
  • Hideyoshi was also my first OC to have not only multiple names but also to be over 20;
  • Originally, he was supposed to be a chuuni, but instead I made him into a big, memey brother.
