Monster ✦

Monster isn't his real name, probably, it's just what people started calling him. He eats nastily but can't help it with them chompers he gets shy about, so he's usually wearing a mask. Because of the constant mockery his peers made of him, Monster never really made an effort to make friends or develop his own interests through clubs or extra curricular activities in school. He felt it would've been too much effort to change their views and it was just easier to be himself by himself.

But Monster's parents felt different, saying he needed to be capable of socializing and building connections, especially in the real world now. He'd never consider his career, he just wanted to exist and vibe. But unfortunately he lived in world where you have to work for a living, so his parents began weighing heavily on him to think of a path to at least try out.

Monster decided to have a personal picnic to clear his mind. But while enjoying his feast he couldn't help but recall the lingering worries for the future. Which then turned into frustration over his options being "what" and not "when", feeling it unfair that the pressure will make him feel like a disappointment if he doesn't make a right choice soon. As Monster lets out a frustrated groan, a voice remarks their amusement of Monster being frustrated at his own apathy but still not doing anything about it. Monster is annoyed, accusing the voice of calling him lazy as he looks around for the source. He's told to look up, and see's an umbrella-like creature stuck in the tree, being freaked out its speaking. The creature asks Monster to prove he's not lazy by helping him out of the tree. After a few attempts, Monster makes it to the top of the tree and grabs the umbrella loose, but falls. Luckily the creature glided Monster down to safety, thanking him. 

The kasa-obake explains he was created by the bearer of the sin Gluttony, and given his and Sloth's sin in order to find more bearers and gather forces to stop Wrath, who had stolen Envy. The sins he carried had drawn him in Monster's direction, when he got stuck in the tree. Monster didn't have much interest in getting involved, which the creature assumed, so he secretly already transferred Sloth into Monster as he brought him down. But tries to convince him it'd at least be exploring a possible path towards his future. Monster reluctantly agrees to bear the sins, and asks for the creatures name. But the kasa-obake's creator never gave him one, so Monster suggests the name Poko, much to the other's liking. Poko agrees to the name, and is about to give him Gluttony as thanks, when Wrath familiars begin attacking. 

Poko instructs Monster to wield him like a weapon to channel his newfound power against the enemies, and the duo hold their own for a bit but soon become overwhelmed. Suddenly, a man with spiky hair and a double-edged swooped in to slay the rest of the monsters while a girl, who introduces herself as Pine, escorts Monster and Poko to safety. They learn the man is her brother, Peito. He kneels to Poko, stating the owl lord sent them and pleads that Poko devour his fathers curse. Poko had already given Sloth to Monster and was contemplating giving him Gluttony too, but decides to split that sin between Monster and Peito since it's accumulated such a large amount of power. Now that Poko bequeathed new sin bearers, he said it was time to rendezvous with the others back at the owl lord's manor quickly before Wrath showed up.

They first made a stop at Peito's home, devouring his father's curse using Gluttony. Monster waits outside, calling his parents to let them know he'd be out late with some friends, possibly deciding a future for himself. His parents seemed confused at the situation but excited if it meant their son would start having goals, wishing him luck and safety. Pine stays behind with her family so Peito, Monster, and Poko depart to the owl lord's manor. There they meet the other bearers Paris (Pride) and Hunk (Lust). Poko reveals they were all brought together by the efforts of the bearer of Greed. Who, despite their larger numbers, plans for them to seek their polar virtues (except Love that Hunk carries) in an effort to strengthen their forces, due to the newer bearers lacking proper training with their power.  Paris agrees only on the condition that everyone there joined his fashion brand Pryde, with pay and benefit of course. Because if they were going to form a team, they might as well be helpful by joining his pre-existing one. Monster agreed since it sounded like a stable path for him, Peito went along if it meant reaching his goals, and Greed had no interest but obliged so plans could move forward. Hunk happily welcomed the new Pryde members with excitement.
