Profile

Name Remy
Gender Female
Age Seventy-Something
Species Kimet
Place of Residence Rosenfort
Occupation Scavenger of the "discarded resources" pile of Rosenfort, Mechanical Engineer, Scholar
Personality

A scholar who specializes in the study of the various strange and sometimes dangerous materials the pillar of Rosenfort produces.

Remy is a lovely Kimet to be around. She's calm and determined, and has a very positive and hard-working attitude towards everything. She seldom has to raise her voice to make herself heard, radiating an air of quiet authority that most know to respect. But she's also approachable and friendly, almost always up for a chat unless she's elbow deep in a project that might blow up if she's not paying attention.

She knows how to act around high society and will stand her ground around her fellow academics. She's very knowledgeable and despite having a bit of a reputation for being 'that slightly off-kilter Kimet who will willingly dig around explosives just for the kicks', she will usually leave a very good impression on anyone willing to chat with her for more than a few minutes. She knows her shit.

When not socializing/navigating the strange world of Rosenfort academia, though, she will most often be found in her workshop, covered in motor oil and grease, surrounded by strange robots and spare parts. She's a very hands-on person.

Appearance

Average to short for a Kimet, but pretty bulky and solid. She does a lot of physical work and it shows. Two clubbed fingers. Pretty fluffy.
Dark skin marred with scars, mostly on her right side from the accident that cost her her leg and arm. Has discoloration and crooked/broken growth on the feathers around her scars.

Her clothes will vary a lot, from fancy academic wear for formal occasions to grimy aprons for when she's working to loose, comfortable clothes for everyday tasks. She does enjoy dressing well on occasion. Favors clothes with very few buttons, belts or straps and lots of hidden pockets. Things that are easy to put on and take off with one hand. Likes natural, earthy colors and colors that make her look brighter.

Walks with a limp, more or less pronounced depending on what leg she's wearing. Will sometimes use a cane for additional support.

Trivia

  • She has two dwellings, one within the city perimeter and one outside of it, because she is not allowed to bring hazardous materials back into the city. The outside house is more of a forge/workshop/storage while the one inside the city houses all of her notes and extensive classification of weird materials, as well as the necessary accommodations to welcome guests and Important People.
  • She walks with a pronounced limp and, depending on what leg she's wearing, might make whirring, clicking, or humming noises.
  • She owns a wide variety of clothes, ranging from really fancy sets of clothes for Important Academic Matters, to grimmy aprons and work clothes. She favors clothes that won't get stuck in her mechanical parts and can be put on and removed with relative ease. She does enjoy dressing up nicely on occasion.
  • She hates molts with a passion because the feathers on her scars grow crooked. She shaves them off/plucks them. Grooming is tedious and uncomfortable, even more so than it is for the average Kimet, and she will be very cranky and short-tempered during molts.
History

[This is a rough outline, it might change some depending on future release of Abraxas worldbuilding.]

Born to a middle class family in Song Dominion. Her mother was an engineer for of some sort, her father came from the Federal Republic of Alva and moved to Rosenfort at some point.
Had a fascination for technology and machinery from an early age, showed promise, enrolled as a scholar at the Central Plains University as soon as she could. Soon grew interested in the unidentifiable resources the Rosenfort totem produces, and bullied her way into a grant that allows her to experiment around and build stuff with them, provided she does so well outside of the city limits. Built a bunch of more-or-less functional robots and strange machines, and was regarded as slightly eccentric but valuable none-the-less, until an accident with some more-volatile-than-expected materials blew up in her face, taking her left arm and leg. The downside of working in a remote location is that help takes a long, long while to arriveā€¦
Spent some time in recovery, walked around with a peg leg for a while, decided that Kimet technology was not up to snuff when it comes to prosthetic limbs, and started building her own.

Still studies the stuff from the rejection pile of Rosenfort, albeit somewhat more carefully. Still builds weird robots out of it. Also makes mechanically enhanced prosthetic limbs for various occasions and uses, ranging from simple, practical walking aids to arms with integrated screwdrivers and lock-picking sets.
