Her life had been full of uncertainties up to this point, but there was one thing she knew now. Nothing would ever be the same after this."

Ebony is considered a deity, though not in the usual traditional sense. No one knows where she came from or who she was sired by, but as a young child, she was kept hidden from the world. Her set of abilities is a strange one; she has the power to take upon any ailment that another living creature might have, whether that be a disease, emotional trauma, physical pain, or anything of the sort. As long as she does it willingly, the affected person would be relieved of their trouble and the burden would then fall to her. She heals faster than most other viscets, which is almost imperative to have with the kind of things that she's faced and been tasked with even while just a viscling.

She could technically be considered immortal, as while she is in the middle of the process of taking on someone's pain (no matter how much or how little it is) she is invulnerable to any outside physical damage. She also has a little bit of freedom when it comes to how she feels these injuries she takes from other people; she can choose to spread it out over time— which does little to lessen the pain and has many adverse side effects— or to just take it all at once— meaning that if the injury were a broken leg, she would feel the pain from all of the however many days it would normally take for it to heal in an instant. The second is usually the most preferable choice for her. She also can't die from another person's burden, even if the compiled damage would kill a regular viscet. There is no limit to how much she can accept; that is up to her own discretion, but she does not have the power to revive someone once they are dead or to bring others back to life.

All of this is also not visible to outsiders or anyone watching; there are no physical markings or signs of anything related to her powers or the things that she's taken upon other than her movement or her behavior.
