Aequus is charming and affable, and he’s liable to speak to EVERYONE - even perfect strangers - with confidence, friendliness, and warmth. He’s partial to gentle teasing, and has an uncanny ability to read others and the situation at hand, which gives him a great sense of just how far he can GO when it comes to said teasing. Of course, he also delights in a bit of antagonization, so if he crosses the line and says something that makes you angry? He most definitely meant to, and he will have done it with the sweetest smile you can imagine. When you spend time getting to know him, you’ll eventually start to recognize that he is ALWAYS projecting the very best version of himself. Always charming and always saying and doing all the right things, to the point that you realize he must NEVER relax. Even if you grow closer and start to share more, there is always the sense that there is a very strong shell around Aequus’ true self, and even his most dearly beloved loved ones have to know him for a VERY long time before he lets the mask slip AT ALL around them. Deep down in his heavily guarded, gooey center, Aequus is his own most harsh and unforgiving critic, and it becomes evident that even though he smiles and tosses his hair and glides right along no matter WHAT wronged ex-friends, enemies, or his father might say, he takes it all very much to-heart. He hates himself for every perceived flaw, mis-step, weakness and imperfection, and is afraid to let himself look out for anyone BUT himself because he doesn’t think that he can handle being turned on, hated or criticized in the same way by someone he loves. The moment someone that he truly loves hurts him, the walls surge upward and he becomes the same cold, seemingly serene, smiling masked figure that he always is, and often times MUCH later - the next week, the next MONTH - he finally breaks down and cries when he’s safely and assuredly alone.

  Positive Character Traits

► Extremely resourceful, independent, and self-sufficient.
► Projects a TON of charm, refinement and confidence, especially in his looks and in his honeyed tongue.
► Able to talk his way out of most forms of conflict with soothing words, logical reasoning, and general social knowledge and grace.
► Loves gardening and plant life, especially flowering trees, green vines, and carnivorous plants.
► Has great fashion sense! He likes to style his hair into all sorts of fancy, complicated up-dos, and he’s partial to symmetrical clothing designs that involve capelets.

  Negative Character Traits

► An avid gossip.
► Tends to be manipulative and duplicitous. He doesn’t often mean anyone any direct harm, but he’s not terribly honest.
► So committed to maintaining a symmetrical and ‘perfect’ appearance that he can - and has - resorted to self-harm for the sake of ‘perfection.’ For example, he has filed down his own prominent forefangs so that they would be straight and give him a more winning smile. This deeply rooted, pathological need for perfection & symmetry can also make him antsy in chaotic and unkempt environments.
► Because of what’s mentioned above, he is practically incapable of handling a real, physical confrontation. The threat of being scarred or disfigured is enough to make him seize up in terror.
► Absolutely ruthless when it comes to protecting himself or his loved ones. He will not actively KILL anybody else, but he will without hesitation cause their deaths by throwing strangers, acquaintances, or even friends under the bus if it allows him or a dear, precious loved one to remain safe.
