Based on my aunt's horse of the same name and breed.
Zebulon was born on a ranch geared towards training drafts in western disciplines. He liked it well enough as a foal, getting treats and all, but as he aged, he felt empty. And one day, he learned that his fate was not something that he'd wish on any horse and especially not on himself. Resolving to be his own master, the Friesian draft made a daring escape on Transport Day, bolting from the trailer and off into the wild.
Now he wanders the wilderness of Western America, almost a convict or a fugitive in mankind's eyes. But he's not been caught. Sometimes he'll be leading a herd or harem, sometimes he's in a band of other stallions, and sometimes he's alone. But every time he's near a ranch, that ranch seems to lose a few horses...
Zebulon is rather calm and certainly brave. He thinks things through, but sometimes is too cold or calculating. He doesn't really grasp the idea of personal space.
