Loren

Introduction

A skilled high elf swordsman and the former prince of a lost elven kingdom. Loren is on a mission to find someone very precious to him, who had gone missing over two decades ago. Even though he has faced a fair share of hardships, his resolve is unwavering and he has never once considered abandoning his quest. 

Refusing to return home until he accomplishes his task, he has resorted to simply wandering from town to town, kingdom to kingdom, while hoping desperately that fate can guide his footsteps. However, the human realm is no safe place for an elf, particularly for one as unaccustomed to human culture as Loren. 

Having been tricked, captured, or nearly killed one too many times, Loren has developed an intense distrust towards humans. That is until one human scholar comes into his life and gives him hope that his fortune might actually be changing for the better...

Personality

Stubborn and proud, Loren carries himself with a dignity befitting of a high elven prince, despite having been away from his home for decades. He's a little too serious and has a tendency to start taking charge, which may cause him to come across as arrogant to others. But his penchant for trying to boss others around really stems from his care for them. He is particularly protective towards other elves and sees himself as a big brother figure, trying to shoulder all their problems and take responsibility for them, even if his intervention is often unneeded. 

He is incredibly loyal, honest to a fault and horrible at lying, which in turn causes him to fall easily for others' deceit. He's not the brightest bulb in the box and has basically survived so far based on pure instinct. 

In truth, Loren frequently doubts his own abilities and is especially insecure about not being able to use magic, an abnormality for a high elf. He longs for someone to guide and reassure him, even as he tries to be that pillar of support for others.

Loren is also somewhat sensitive about his looks. While he believes that he was once "considered handsome", he now feels that he is unattractive due to the myriad of battle scars covering his face and body.

Trivia

• He lost his right arm when it was too grievously injured in a fight and had to be amputated. As a result, he had to train himself to fight with his non-dominant arm from scratch.
• Loren cannot use any magic, but he has a runic blessing that grants him temporary invulnerability for a few seconds in battle when he gets fired up.
• His most prized possession is a cracked opal ring. He protects it with his life, but refuses to explain why.
