Profile

Introduction

A young noblewoman from one of the minor Lunaris houses, House Rye. To most other nobles, she appeared to be vivacious and enigmatic lass. However, unbeknownst to them, she actually hailed from a realm far, far away. As childhood friends with Barius and Cyrius, the three of them got up to their fair share of trouble in their youth. Eventually, as her friends grew into their respective roles, with Cyrius becoming the Silver Sage, and Barius becoming Head of the Silver House and Captain of the Lunaris Guard, Isha decided to become a priestess at the Lunarspire. However, the deity that she worshiped was not Éthir, but rather a much darker force from her realm of origin. She would also end up marrying Barius and having three children with him, the eldest of which was Ailithir.

Personality

Frequently described as feisty, Isha came across as a force to be reckoned with in her youth. In reality, she was simply trying to hide her sensitive nature so that she would not be hurt by the words of others. As she grew older, she learnt to be less affected by the opinions of others, and put on the appearance of being proper and lady-like.  However, she is still prone to bouts of mischief and devilish playfulness. Of course, she holds no real malicious intent. The only thing that could truly anger her and bring out her wrath is to threaten the safety of her children and her husband, and she would not hesitate to annihilate anyone with such intention. Towards her children, on the other hand, she is extremely loving and patient, constantly showering them with affection. She finds herself being unable to chastise them harshly no matter what they did. In her eyes, they are all pure and perfectly behaved little angels.

History

Isha was born to become the vessel of a dark god. At least that was all she knew about her past. Not permitted to know her parents, she was raised amidst a circle of priests and priestesses, and simply accepted her eventual fate. However, an encounter with the vessel who would be her predecessor, Morpheus, changed the direction of her life. Morpheus stole her from the realm and told her escape from the curse that was destined to befall upon her.

Isha wandered through the streets of many realms alone, confused and terrified by the strange new world she had stepped into for the first time. She caught the attention of a Cartographer couple, who took pity on the young girl and brought her back to their home in the Lunaris realm. Thus, Isha was adopted into House Rye and raised as one of their own. Yet, her presence was regarded with great suspicion and scrutiny from the other noble houses, who were wary of her dark powers that were just starting to manifest. Not wanting to bring trouble to her adoptive family, Isha quickly learned to control and hide her powers, but could not shake off her reputation as a "friendly but strange girl".

While Isha was sent to study under the then Silver Sage, Khirithir, she became fast friends with Barius and Cyrius, and the three of them would grow to be inseparable. After many misadventures, Isha and Barius realized their feelings for each other, and the two started dating. Unfortunately, their relationship was met with the disapproval of Barius's family, House Silver, who wanted their heir to marry someone less eccentric, and of better repute. Going against Lunarian traditions, Barius married Isha anyway out of love, and they soon had their first son, Ailius.

Meanwhile, under an offer from Cyrius, Isha took up a position at the Lunaris temple, the Lunarspire, as a priestess. Unlike the other priests and priestesses, who were in charge of daily rituals and studying Éthir's scriptures, Isha experimented with her dark powers. While she pretended to worship Éthir, she spent most of her time secretly performing dark spells and blood rituals that would most definitely be denounced by the other acolytes. Cyrius himself was aware of her experiments and studies, but did not object to them for he believed knowledge of the dark forces outside of the Lunaris's safe sheltered bubble was valuable as well.

As Isha's dark powers grew stronger, she began to be plagued by an odd vision in her dreams. A young boy crying out to her, seeking solace in the darkness. Out of sympathy, she visited the boy every day in her sleep to comfort him. The two grew very close, and the boy became Isha's confidante of sorts, while Isha became the boy's only source of warmth.

Despite the dangerous magic she played with, Isha's kind nature never changed, and she loved her children above all else. Naturally, when they learnt that she was expecting her third child, both she and Barius were overjoyed. But one day, the boy in her dreams told her a secret. Her third and final child was cursed and would not survive past his birth.

Devastated, Isha begged for the boy to help her, stating that she would do anything for her child to live. The boy, who had grown close to her, acquiesced to her demands. But there was one condition she had to fulfill - a life for a life. The boy promised to save her child, but Isha had to give up her own life force for the child to survive. Isha agreed without hesitation.

And thus, within one predestined night, Sakar was born and robbed of his mother. But the child was not free from his curse. Born with pure black hair and fur, Sakar was fated to become an outcast among his kind. Even as his family hid him away from the rest of the world, they could not protect him from the misfortune of being marked by the dark god. The boy kept his promise to Isha.

Trivia

  • Isha's adoptive parents, the Cartographer couple, once disappeared on a journey and never returned. Upset, she set out to look for them, but just ended up wandering lost in the wilderness for several days before she was found by Barius and Cyrius.
  • She smells of mountain wildflowers, and occasionally blood.
