Before Camp Half-Blood

Solaris's mother has always worked in a vet clinic, she inherited from her grandfather. She was working there, while his great grandparents looked after her little son. His grandparents were really mad at his mom for having a kid, even though she wasn't married, so Sol rarely was meeting with them.

Neither Sol nor his mother knew, that his father was actually a god. Sol didn't even know what "father" is until he had gone to kindergarten for the first time. He then asked his mom, why he only has a mum. She burst into tears and never answered his question. It became a "taboo" topic and they never speak about it again, until he was 8.

Sol and his mom were getting along really well. Once in a while, he visited her in her vet clinic and helped her. It's when he gained basic medical knowledge, even though most of it applied only for animals. He liked helping his mum with vet stuff, but he always wanted to treat people instead of taking care of animals. He also discovered his passion and talent for music, when he was really little. His mother enrolled him in music school and paid for piano lessons, however, he never really liked classical music - he wanted to play songs everybody could sing along to and have fun. Not to mention, he couldn't take a piano to school trip or barbecue with friends. He liked music, but he felt that career of classical musican just isn't for him.

His mother married a man named Sam when he was 8. She told him that since then, Sam will be his father. She still didn't want to tell her a whole truth about his real father though.

As he grew older, he started guessing what happened to his father. He was pretty sure he left his mom or he never knew he existed. He got used to Sam living with them, but he has never really seen him like a father. He really wished that he could meet his real father.

When he was 9 he saw a banjo for the first time in his life. The man, who was playing it has sunglasses and he was playing on the street. Sol stopped to listen to him. The man was smiling and having fun. Few other people stopped by to hear him play and one even decided to sing along. They all looked like they were having a great time. And then Sol thought "This is the kind of musician I want to be!" Little did he know, the man was actually Apollo.

He wanted to tell his mother he didn't want to go to his music school for a long time. However, he never had the confidence to do so. But, at the end of the school year, he had enough. He told his mom, he doesn't want to become a classical musician and that he wants to have fun - form a band, write songs and sing with his friends.

His mom told him that he should have said that much earlier. A week later, she gave him a gift - a new banjo. He looked at it and though that it can't be a coincidence. He went to a local school, playing banjo after classes. Somehow, he knew exactly what he was supposed to do - he learned to play all by himself.

One year later, the monster attacked him, while he was with his friends in the cinema, on holidays. He was rescued by a satyr, who explained all "demigod" stuff to him. Even though he saw the monster, he thought the satyr is mad. The satyr, who was a really aggressive one, actually had to drag him to the Camp Half-Blood, what boy didn't really like. But once he arrived there he never regretted meeting the satyr.
