Mevdos was deemed unfit for the Academy.
Not like it mattered much to him anyways. He despised rules. Not because he wanted to break them (well, kind of), but he was deemed too soft for the academy. That’s what led him to free the prisoner of Yjornn and why he ultimately ended up in chains.
