Maya (PKMN-Clockwork)

Without a chance to meet her biological parents, Maya found a family in a humble Delcatty and Bibarel couple. Though illegitimate for many years and thus limited in her access to formal education, the Noibat learned crafts and trades to help around the house and keep useful to her parents. Even though they never asked any retribution from her nor cared for it, she felt she needed to give back to them, as she found out through bullying from other kids a truth she chose to believe since they couldn’t prove it otherwise. The truth that she was adopted. The constant disrespect to her and her family, among lies, made her grow scared of other kids. Confused about her own identity, her feelings and her parents, she preferred to avoid children in her age group, almost as a reflex act. This behavior promptly turned detrimental to her relationship with them, growing isolated and unable to form meaningful relationships, and quickly extending to even adults outside of her family circle.

It wasn’t until a gentle soul began to frequent her parents’ shop that she felt she could finally feel “safe” with another kid, however, no matter how calm she was, Maya simply wasn’t able to approach herself, remaining frozen in place at best, and only hoping the Riolu would return. The girl was so mystifying to her that she began to daydream about what kind of person she could be, longing to hear her voice speaking to her, until those dreams came true. Phoenix had the initiative to introduce herself, asking random questions related to the business, casually asking about her day, little by little, they began to warm up to each other. Before they expected, they were already conversing, hanging out, having fun, and most importantly, studying together.

Upon finding out Maya’s scholarly situation, Phoenix and her tutor quickly took action by giving the Noibat intensive study sessions to help her catch up. It wasn’t an easy task, for the girl was really far behind, but she was determined to learn, besides, these lessons were all the more enjoyable with Phoenix as her company. Eventually, Maya managed to catch up, although still worried she might only know the most essential, she was reassured it wasn’t necessary to be a genius to enter high school. When the time was right, Phoenix’s tutor decided he’d sponsor Maya’s studies abroad at Moonflower Private Academy so both girls get the chance to continue their academic pursuits together.
